1. Time: Full time, Salary Exempt (0800 to 1700 Monday thru Friday)
2. Qualification/Education: 4-yearCollege degree with EHS discipline or equivalent experience.
3. Requirements/Expectations: Must be the Site’s Subject Matter Expert for All EHS concerns. Must be Organized, Motivated and have Self Discipline to maintain the EHS requirements for the Site and push projects to completion.Must have a very good operational understanding of all Microsoft Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook), Behavioral Observation System, JSA audits, Hazard Analyses Process, 5Y’s and Site Security. The EHS Officer will be responsible for the process execution and completion of all EHS Modifications, EHS Improvements and Capex projects that the Site may require for compliance or to meet Corporate and Governmental mandates. The EHS Officer may be required to work off-hours to meet EHS needs and may be required to travel on limited bases for training, audits or other EHS specific requirements.
Job Responsibilities
a) Adhere to all safety guidelines, rules, and regulations set forth by the company.
b) Must follow Plant and Personal Safety Programs and Safe Work Practices. Individual will not take unnecessary risks to complete job assignments. Ensure safe work and operation of equipment is being performed properly.
c) Follow all applicable Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Quality and Food safety guidelines and LOG/SOPs set forth by the company.
d) Be the example of safety, quality and positive attitude. Conducting self professionally with subordinates, coworkers and management.
e) Interface with plant engineers and management on shutdowns and special projects.
f) Understand and follow written and verbal instructions and procedures that may be given by management.
g) Maintain all the environmental licensing (Air, Storm Water, Sewer and Hazardous Materials) and keep up with the regulatory requirements of each license. i.e. Data reporting and audit ability to support each license.
h) Monitoring regulatory changes from EPA & ADEM and responding to the changes.
i) Meeting all Permit requirements and necessary scheduled reporting to ADEM, EPA, local State Agencies including the following:
a. SARA 311, SARA 312 Tier II Chemical Inventory, SARA 313 TRI (Toxic Release Inventory)
b. TSCA (Toxic Substance Control Act)
c. Title V Air Permit
d. NPDES Water Permit
e. SID Water Permit
f. LDAR Fugitive Emissions Program (LeakDAS Software)
g. SPCC Plan
h. BMP Plan
i. RCRA Hazardous Waste Tracking/Disposal
j. Nonhazardous Waste Tracking/Disposal
k. Universal Waste Tracking/Disposal
j) Maintain site environmental policy, EMS (Environmental Management System), Management System Manual, procedures, work instructions, forms.
k) Provide on-site environmental compliance training.
l) Manage department budget and environmental contractors.
m) ISO 14001:2015
a. Serve as Lead Auditor
b. Coordinate Internal/External Audits & Audit Team
c. Management of EMS (Env. Management System) Corrective/Preventive Action
n) Follow and track the due dates and reports for each license and when it is time to renew the license. Take care of that requirement with the applicable state and federal authority. Take care of and respond to a concern with a State or federal agency.
o) Handle all the Hazardous and Non-hazardous waste shipment, training and documentation for each shipment. (Per 49 CFR). This is the transportation of hazardous materials over public highways.
p) Coordinate with vendors for Process Waste management and Disposal.
q) Coordinate with state and federal environment regulating authorities for compliance related activities.
r) Update management with new upcoming ENV regulations and coordinate works towards compliance.
s) Coordinate with corporate HSE team for Alphapet data logging on central portal.
t) Supervise Site Safety Officer & EHS Specialist
u) Health & Safety Compliance related activities
v) Review/evaluate successes of safety programs.
w) Help maintain Health & Safety Budget
x) Help oversee ERT (Emergency Response) Team
y) Help review/approve/maintain site safety policy, OHSMS (Occ. Health & Safety Management System), Management System Manual, procedures, work instructions, forms.
z) Safety Capex Project Support/Review
aa) Review site OSHA 300/300A reporting.
bb) Provide oversight for Safety & Occupational Health record storage and retention.
cc) Oversight of noise monitoring (surveys/dosimetry), IH (Industrial Hygiene), and Hearing Conservation Program and selection of hearing protection.
dd) Contribute during accident/incident Investigation/Root Cause Analysis.
ee) Participate in corporate initiatives/reporting and program development as needed.
ff) Review monthly meeting report data/presentation information, leading indicators, objectives, and targets.
gg) Oversight of fire protection, emergency planning and response, ergonomics, and Site Security Contractor (5 Guards Total).
hh) Oversight of the site CAPA (Corrective Action Preventative Action) management system.
ii) Develop, implement, and execute short and long-term plans to ensure compliance with ISO 45001:2018.
jj) Perform audits of work areas/personnel to ensure work being performed safe and equipment is safe
kk) Handle other job assignments as designated by Management.
