Manager, Enterprise Monitoring Job at Options Clearing Corporation
Summary
Using a high degree of independent judgement for directing, managing, planning, and administrating an Application and Network monitoring team. Identify areas for improvement, allocate resources, and hire where appropriate to insure successful support of the enterprise.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Translate middle and senior management directives into workable policies
- Monitor project status and take remedial action on projects behind schedule and/or over budget
- Provide subject matter expertise for ongoing support of Enterprise Monitoring tools, such as Splunk and LogicMonitor
- Prioritize the work of the Enterprise Monitoring team
- Help to resolve complex issues in non-production environments
- Oversee the design and develop enterprise monitoring solutions for cloud environments
- Oversee the design and develop enterprise monitoring solutions for microservices technologies
- Use subject matter expertise with products to advise on design and assist with development of applications using these tools.
- Manage day to day activities of the enterprise monitoring staff
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Direct work of staff and conduct appropriate personnel actions (hiring, promotions, terminations, etc.) when necessary
- Communicate and advise staff on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities, and methods and software change issues
- Prepare and conduct employee reviews as well as monitor progress to satisfy employee management goals
- Promote employees development by conducting career-planning sessions and scheduling employee training classes, conferences, and seminars
- Ensure that proper funding is added to the departmental budget

Expert understanding of:
- Systems administration and change management practices
- Advanced knowledge of Splunk queries and dashboarding
- Enterprise Monitoring and reporting tools
- Experience scripting and coding against API’s.
- Solid understanding of network technologies
- Experience with cloud native applications
- Experience with technologies used to support microservices
- Certifications
- [Preferred] Cloud certification
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a related area
- 7-10 years of related experience
- Minimum 7 years experience working in a distributed multi-platform environment.
- Minimum 3 years experience working with Splunk and other monitoring tools
- Minimum 3 years experience managing people and projects
Certificates or Licenses
- Cloud Certification is a plus
