Duties
Applies standard measurements, specification and instructions when constructing, installing, or repairing items such as frame structures, decking, partitions, shelving, forms, siding and scaffolds. Measures, cuts, constructs, installs, repairs and modifies wood, composite and wood substitute items where specific fit and accuracy are within allowable limits to produce a serviceable product. Performs limited repairs furniture such as regluing loose joints and replacing shelving and slide mechanisms. Works from sketches, work orders, and instructions. Operates a variety of hand and power tools such as hammers, hand saws, drills, planes, routers, screwdrivers, power nailers and fasteners, glue guns, metal shears, screw guns, power saws, and power sanders and planes.
Measures, cuts, bends, and threads pipe and tile, caulks, and seals elbow, union joints, tile pipe, faucets and unions. Performs minor maintenance and/or repairs to plumbing fixtures such as complete faucets, drain traps, unplugs stopped drains in tubs, sinks and showers. Use tapes, rules, hacksaw, hand and powered pipe threaders and cutters, packing and caulking irons and pipe wrenches.
Prepares surfaces by sanding, wire brushing, scraping, spackling, and puttying. Paints wood and metal surfaces by brushing, rolling or spraying using prepared materials and by the application of coating techniques which ensures surfaces are fully coated, protected and free from runs and drips. Uses scraper, sanders, wire brushes, putty knives, paintbrushes, rollers and spray guns.
May repair door locks. Repairs are limited to removing/replacing door locks, key-card locks, and doorknobs.
Drives vehicles used in the transportation of material to and from work sites. May require moving and/or lifting furniture. Performs minor maintenance such as adjusting and replacing belts on vacuum cleaners, carpet shampooers. Performs maintenance on power tools and sharpens cutting tools.
Cleans carpet and upholstery by applying cleaning agents for various types of fabrics/furnishing. Operates carpet/upholstery cleaning equipment on scheduled basis. Performs other duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
- Applicants must have increasingly responsible experience/knowledge of carpentry, painting, plumbing and a general knowledge of electrical and general maintenance.
- Must have a working knowledge of various hand and power tools.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English.
- Must be able to work an irregular tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be physically able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally heavier objects with assistance.
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.
- Position is a position of trust.
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid state driver's license.
- "This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use."

Education
