Job Summary or Objective: Controls Engineers are responsible for ensuring that plants create the best products possible in the most efficient manner . They are highly analytical and use these skills to examine and improve processes to increase productivity. They will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained. As they perform these functions, controls engineers must also be able to work with other departments and external parties to create and implement process to increase the plant’s efficiency.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Initiates control system design form written sequence of operation

Engineer and design pneumatic piping diagrams

Engineer and design electrical wiring diagrams

Engineer and design hydraulic pipe diagrams

Design electric control panels

Design programmable logic controller software

Design programmable human machine interface (HMI) software

Tryout, debug and provide start-up support for control systems

Provide technical support for installation of tools and equipment

Provide technical support for training of plant personnel

Must have excellent communication skills as well as supervision

Qualifications and Skills:
Must have ability to program (PC or PLC) electrical engineer/tech, networking skills
(IP’s/PC/Cabling)

Proficient with application of programmable machine controls hardware and software

Proficient with application of Servo drive hardware and software

Proficient with AutoCad

Proficient with basic electrical standards

Proficient with basic safety standards

Engineers must be master multitaskers. Goal is to ensure that the plant is running smoothly and efficiently while meeting quality and safety standard

Education: Minimum experience: Associates degree with early professional course work and 2 years of related experience. Preferred experience: Bachelor’s degree which includes technical coursework or undergraduate and 4 years related work experience.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is typically working in a light industrial work environment with associated noise level, the building is heated and air conditioned. Employees will be exposed to temperature and humidity variations through the seasons of the year and may at times, be outdoors – walking or travelling between buildings or off-site entities. The employee will also perform part of their work in a typical office environment at a workstation with computer and other equipment with normal level s of noise. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.

Physical Requirement: Must be able to lift 50 LBS on occasion, which will enable them to assist in lifting an assembled pallet. Must be able to make repeated movements of fingers, hand, and wrists. Use muscles to lift, push, pull or carry heavy objects. Use muscles for extended periods without getting tired.

Face masks not required for Covid-19. The only PPE requirement is based on what may be required on the plant floor (ie. hard hat, eye shield, boots, vests, etc.).
