Purpose and Responsibility of the Position:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible to ensure that the Customer, People, and Investor goals are balanced and met.
This position supports manufacturing operations by maintaining, trouble shooting and repairing all facilities and manufacturing equipment in a safe and orderly fashion as directed by the maintenance supervisor. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability and essential duties required to successfully perform this job. Essential Functions of the Position:
- Attain safety, quality and productivity goals
- Troubleshoot plant facilities and production equipment problems
- Maintain and update equipment records, schematics, blueprints and files in orderly fashion
- Obtain training for professional development and to stay current on maintenance and safety requirements
- Complete all work in accordance with OSHA, NEC, JIC and DNR standards and regulations
- Complete correspondence, forms and reports using personal computer and required software
- Maintain department repair parts stock and inventory
- Attend training as required
- Handle confidential information on a regular basis
- Encourage safety and housekeeping practices and lead by example
- Promote and facilitate Open Door process and Fair Treatment
- Participate in Continual Improvement activities
- Adhere to customer requirements, Business Operating System and company policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
Communication Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customer, and the general public.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Physical Demands / Work EnvironmentManufacturing Environment:
- Primarily manufacturing plant
- Must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees of all departments, management, customers and suppliers
- Provide support for three shifts and weekend production schedule
- Flexible hours and able to work additional hours as required
- The plant floor is characterized by temperature extremes, loud noise and considerable tow motor traffic
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience required
- Able to obtain a forklift license
- Technical training in Hydraulic/pneumatic systems maintenance and repair, Mechanical power transmission maintenance and repair, combustion gas train maintenance and repair, HVAC, Industrial electronics, welding and fabriciation, machine tool operation, maintenance and repair,robot and PLC programming and trouble shooting preferred.
Areas of Training Required: Must have New Hire Orientation, Safety, and Understanding of the Charter prior to or within the first two weeks of assuming the role.Work Conduct (Health, Safety, Quality, Cost and Environment)Every associate is required to; work safely and contribute to the health and safety of others; and deliver products & services conforming to required quality standards without negative impact to the environment or company (unnecessary cost or scandal exposure).
