SUMMARY
Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate or repair machine tools and maintain industrial machines by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assemble and dismantle all production equipment.
- Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair.
- Dismantles machine or equipment to examine parts for defect or to remove defective parts.
- Replaces defective part with new part or repairs part.
- Assembles and test operates machine to verify correction of malfunction. Maintains and lubricates machine tools and equipment.
- Performs building maintenance and refrigeration repair and trouble shooting.
- Performs preventative maintenance functions and reports any problems or repairs to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Performs gas pressure adjustments on Dixie vac and multi vac machines.
- Performs film web changes on Dixie vacs, multi vac, Illipak, and Flow Wrap machines.
- Performs packaging machinery changeovers included but not limited to film knives, rails, seal head, former dye box and computer programming, labels.
- Reports any parts used to Maintenance Supervisor for restocking.
- Understands and demonstrates a thorough knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures and complies with all policies pertaining to their usage as well as all safety practices.
- Maintain a neat and clean work area at all times. Perform maintenance activities as they relate to food safety and food quality.
- Any and all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One-year certificate from college or technical school: three to six months related experience and /or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able trouble shoot general electrical issues with machines and repair as such but not limited to, blown fuses and changing, blown circuit breaker and resetting, identify and hook up equipment to proper source. General knowledge of multimeter.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme cold. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
