Job Summary:

  • The Facilities Maintenance Technician(2) under the direction of the Director of Facilities and Plant Operations-Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator and Maintenance Supervisor, will competently perform preventive maintenance, inspections, installations and repairs on assigned equipment to ensure their proper operation and function. The assignments may include general building maintenance, light carpentry, painting, changing light bulbs, repair of minor electrical devices, light plumbing or HVAC according to the persons training and experience.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform as a reliable member of the Preventive Maintenance Program which includes routine inspections, basic installations and minor repairs.
  • Will perform general building maintenance which may include light carpentry, painting, light plumbing, changing of light bulbs and repair of minor electrical devices.
  • Will maintain all records, such as work orders, and necessary reports to ensure accurate recording of activities for code and regulatory purposes.
  • Process work requests and turn in completed work requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • May be required to electronically process and close work orders.
  • Will diligently maintain all tools and equipment in clean, safe, working order.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of related parts to perform assigned duties.
  • They will respond to emergency situations to ensure employee, patient and facility safety.
  • Report possible safety issues and recommend appropriate changes
  • Comply with OSHA, and other local, state and federal regulations, JCAHO regulations.

Other duties:

  • Maintain technical skills and required certifications to perform job duties.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements and wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment required by the job.
  • Maintain friendly, efficient, positive customer service attitude toward customers, and coworkers.
  • Cooperate and collaborate with Organization's leadership to champion and meet the strategic goals of the Organization's system.
  • Adhere to Organization and the Facilities Department policies and procedures including appropriate attire, grooming and attendance.
  • May serve on departmental and/or Organization's committees or focus groups as requested and needed.
  • Communicate effectively with Managers, Facilities Maintenance Supervisor and other Facilities Maintenance Technicians on a regular basis, formal and informal, to discuss possible changes or problems with the Facilities and Preventive Maintenance operation or equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years’ experience in maintenance of large commercial facilities. The combination of experience and education that demonstrates the knowledge capable of performing job duties may be considered in lieu of 5 years of experience.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables as needed.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration:

  • Valid driver’s license with proof of insurability.
  • Electrical/Plumber or Boiler Operator licensure is a plus.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of computerized PM and work order systems.
  • The ability to learn various software programs associated with Organization and the Facilities Department
