Position Summary:
The Maintenance Planner schedules work for the maintenance crews to insure preventive maintenance, project work and reactive work are completed in a timely and organized fashion. This role works closely with the Maintenance Manager and Plant Supervisors and Managers to coordinate timing and ensure priorities are met. In addition, this position will work closely with the Maintenance Manager for sourcing, purchasing and inventory management of all maintenance related supplies, services, and materials required to support the facility. The organization and orderliness of the Store Room are also part of this job. This position has a significant impact on machine uptime, internal customer satisfaction, and ultimately, external customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will have prior maintenance planning experience; including managing a CMMS work order schedule and maintenance store room. In addition experience working with vendors and contractors will be important.
Essential Functions:

  • Plan maintenance work orders and schedules.
  • Supervision of maintenance crews by providing direction and support with tasks.
  • Source and purchase required parts, services, and supplies in support of the plant.
  • Develop job material lists and provide detailed work instruction to the maintenance crews.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager and Manufacturing Manager to troubleshoot equipment issues and determine parts needed to complete repair.
  • Create and run reports in the CMMS as requested to analyzing data and identify root cause of unplanned downtime.
  • Keep the Maintenance Manager informed of abnormal or critical situations and seek advice on matters outside the Planner's knowledge or authority.
  • Recommend improvements and participate in improvement activities.
  • Oversee all MRO parts inventory. Manage the procurement, storage, and dispersal of general MRO stores, tools, and parts to assure availability for plant use.
  • Initiate and implement preventative maintenance programs and running maintenance procedures to assure effective equipment utilization.
  • Assure that machine repairs are accomplished in a timely manner. Assure proper communications and follow-up with Maintenance personnel, shift supervisors, and plant management.
  • Coordinate projects with outside contractors when needed.
  • Develop and implement best practices including, but not limited to, planned and preventative maintenance and equipment restoration.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience in a maintenance planning role
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field preferred
  • Maintenance planning, scheduling and procurement experience required
  • Basic understanding of machine and facility maintenance; working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
  • Prior experience with a CMMS
  • Ability to read prints and schematics preferred
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organization and follow-through skills.
  • Attentive to details, organized, works well under pressure, and meets deadlines.
  • Collaborative and constructive relationship with maintenance team, operations team and vendors.
  • Self-starter who is comfortable communicating with both the maintenance techs and the maintenance manager.
