- Motivated to learn, and work in a team environment.
- A good understanding of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic processes.
- The ability to troubleshoot and make the correct repairs.
- The ability to see an ongoing problem and develop a more permanent solution.
- Fabrication skills, such as cutting, welding, machining etc.
- The ability or capability to master and apply troubleshooting of automated equipment up to and including the PLC.
- Communicate with Maintenance Staff and Production Management to ensure efficient operation of the production process.
- Ability to work any shift and overtime as needed.
- Utilize the Computer Maintenance Management System for all PMs, repairs and part usage.
- Work with contractors and vendors, when needed, to facilitate repair of equipment, installation of new equipment and accurate repair parts.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks and inspections, based on manufacturer’s specifications.
- Participates in skills update/upgrade training programs.
- Performs all work to meet local, state, and federal codes.
- Responsible for attending and participating in assigned training sessions related to GMPs, SOPs, HACCP and SQF; applying and demonstrating obtained knowledge and following all procedures and policies related to food safety.
- Responsible for keeping work area safe and clean.
- Adheres to all safety guidelines for job performed.
- Perform related duties as assigned by management.
- 1-2 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Degree or Certificate of Completion of an accredited industrial maintenance program
- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic problems on high-speed industrial equipment used in the food processing industry.
- Ability to use various hand tools- powered and non-powered, precision measuring tools, forklift and other tools and equipment to perform industrial maintenance tasks.
- Ability to perform various maintenance tasks- carpentry, plumbing, welding and cutting and operate appropriate tools to perform such tasks.
- Ability to use Excel, Word and Outlook proficiently
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and equipment manuals
- Ability to communicate, write legibly, and speak in English
- Ability to perform each essential function satisfactory.
- Occasionally required to lift and pull up to 100 pounds
- Occasionally required to carry items up to 100 pounds
- Required to work while standing for periods up to 2 hours.
- Regularly required to bend, reach, pull, stoop, kneel, climb and reach
- Required to work in hot and cold environments
- Perform medium to heavy duty work tasks
- Safety eyewear is required
- Protective clothing, hair net and gloves are required.
