Summary
The Maintenance Lead / EHS Assistant coordinates work, employees and sub-contractors engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, developing and maintaining machinery and equipment. This person is also responsible for
Environmental, Health, and Safety program and insuring regulatory compliance in all areas. This person also conducts safety and related EHS training to all new hires and leads the annual required EHS refresher training.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:
Responsible for prioritizing work with the Plant Manager and/or Corporate EHS Manager. Keep track of work completed and work that needs to be done. Works with the Plant Manager and Lead Men to coordinate work.
Directs workers regarding jobs to perform, work rate, quality of work and overtime.
Directs workers regarding proper repair, installation and maintenance techniques for electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic machinery and equipment. Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in
machinery and equipment.
Maintains records of all inspections, reports, and preventative maintenance duties.
Ensure workers are following all safety rules, company policies and proper maintenance procedures.
Performs training of new workers in proper maintenance, repair and installation techniques and procedures and ensures they are fully trained.
Gives input to the Plant Manager and Human Resources for writing performance appraisals and participates in the performance review of workers.
Selects and oversees sub-contractors to perform various projects or services. Ensures they are following proper safety procedures.
Requisitions and keeps a supply of spare parts to minimize downtime.
Develops and oversees a preventive maintenance schedule for appropriate machinery and equipment.
Keeps track of inventory levels of chemicals and supplies for production and orders when needed.
Responsible for housekeeping and organization in assigned areas.
Responsible for compliance to all applicable local, state and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, NFPA70E, Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, etc.). Provides requested information with the Corporate EHS Manager for environmental reports and works with any OSHA, EPA or MWSDC inspectors.
Responsible for investigating near misses and accidents and filling out appropriate reports and distributing them to appropriate personnel.
Responsible for ensuring the cranes, straps, fork lifts, fire extinguishers, flammable cabinets, and the location of hazardous supplies are all within safety standards.
Demonstrate personal support of and follow all company policies, guidelines, safety activities and procedures.
Perform any other jobs as needed or requested.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Requires a high school diploma or the equivalent of 2 years’ experience in industrial maintenance or hard chrome plating.

**EDUCATIONAL and/or EXPERIENCE: **High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates Degree or higher in industrial maintenance or electrical engineering preferred.
