Primary Responsibility: Mail Matrix Sorter Processor/Distributor is a job that requires a high level of accuracy, speed and competency. Mail Matrix Sorter Processor /Distributor has primary responsibility for processing all different types of deliverable mail, using established priority levels, on the automated equipment in order to facilitate the accurate and expedient delivery of mail to the Jefferson community. Delivery and pick up of incoming/outgoing inter-departmental and US, mail, parcels, specimens, records, reports and supplemental data to and from the various University and Hospital areas Processes outgoing Mail. Must be able to fulfill responsibilities of a, Mail Chief Matrix Processor when needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Determining priority order for mail to be processed and schedule job accordingly.
  • Performing pre-job daily check of all production areas of equipment to include (iBots, cameras, belts and bins), choosing the correct sorting scheme to use (within the provided proprietary software program) for appropriate type of mail.
  • Loading mail into automated feeder, or dropping mail manually onto processing belt.
  • Keying mail piece images when machine cannot sort it automatically, identified by high speed camera, by using the 10-key pad on standard keyboard (at a rate of less than 1 piece every 2 seconds) using the CB# system established by UMS.
  • Monitoring equipment issues through computer screen to troubleshoot potential problems such as; full sorting bins, jams, or iBots with low power capacity.
  • Clearing jams at any level of the equipment which can include; removing pieces manually that have become stuck in bin delivery sections, manipulating iBots inside of sorting tunnel to facilitate clearing of jams, removing iBots from sorting tunnel by walking inside of equipment after proper shut down procedures have been used, reintroducing iBots into sorting tunnel using proper technique that was demonstrated during on-site training by OPEX employees.
  • Sweeping & bundling mail from delivery location bins, using established route sequences to facilitate delivery to campus locations.
  • Process outgoing US mail needing postage.
  • Distribute sorted mail and packages to established mail stops/pick-up outgoing customer mail and/or process outgoing mail.
  • Various related duties as assigned by Management
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the Hospital

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or GED required. College Degree preferred.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1-2 years’ experience in data entry highly preferred.
  • Must be able to retain Information.
  • Must be able to work in a fast environment.
  • Must have knowledge of Standard Key board
  • Previous, or current, experience in Mail Service operations.
