Green Lake Tube, LLC (GLT) manufactures electric resistance welded mechanical and structural tubing from our manufacturing facility in Gary, Indiana.
GLT is in search of a Machine Assistant in the Steel Tubing Manufacturing Industry.
Responsibilities
- Assist operator with loading and/or unloading product from machine
- Monitor machine when operator is not present and ensure its continued operation
- Visually inspect and sort completed parts
- Use quality tools, such as tape measure, calipers, and micrometer to conduct quality inspection of parts
- Assist in the secondary operations required to complete parts (deburring, cleaning, grinding, etc.)
- Report all quality issues to the operator
- Assist operator to apply steel banding to finished product
- Attach material identification tags to finished product
- Assist operator with set up of machine
- Assist in maintenance, breakdowns and changeovers
- Use common hand tools, manual and powered banding tools
- Assist in training employees within the organization
- Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area
- All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Management
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work in a safe manner

- Ability to perform Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Ability to follow specific instructions and directions
- Ability to use and operate hand tools
- Ability to stack material properly
- Demonstrate hand-eye coordination

- Ability to understand basic verbal and written instructions in English

- Ability to perform basic math
- Ability to troubleshoot the machine or equipment in use
- Ability to understand efficiencies and productivity measures
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time operating and tending to machines
- Ability to bend, twist and stretch

- Ability to pass a drug test
