POSITION SUMMARY:
Position is responsible for installing equipment into Les Schwab (LS) Service Trucks. Refurbish and/or repair previously installed equipment as needed, through the use of troubleshooting and diagnostic equipment. Role requires a mastery level knowledge of installation and repair, may serve as a subject matter expert to less-experienced mechanics, store personnel, and help to create best practices.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS

  • Install fabricated and purchased equipment onto LS Service Trucks, with limited to no supervision. Including but not limited to:
  • Beds
  • Air compressors
  • Tool boxes
  • Hose reels
  • Air tanks
  • Lighting and electrical
  • Cranes
  • Repair vehicle equipment for LS Stores by inspecting and testing vehicles
  • Repair mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions on installed vehicle equipment
  • Replace parts and components as required
  • Diagnose and repair any mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, or other equipment breakdown/failure
  • Work with LS Stores in diagnosing equipment repair issues with LS Service Trucks varies
Store Equipment Liaison Responsibilities, if assigned:
Aids store managers in identifying which service trucks and/or equipment best fit their needs
  • Provide over-the-phone troubleshooting expertise to identify root-cause of problems associated with service trucks/equipment; including, but not limited to: compressors, cranes, lift gates, or electrical
  • Consider the needs of the store by asking thorough questions to determine anticipated use of each service truck/equipment
  • Determine which equipment is best suited to be installed on each brand of service trucks
  • Offer the best solution and explain the reasoning behind the selection
  • Work directly with LSE Purchasing in the ordering of unique equipment
Receive returned scanning equipment for the Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) when requested by the store locations; upload the proper updates
MINIMUM EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED
Educational/Experience Requirements:
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with vehicles (mechanical, custom installations, remodels, light automotive repair)
  • Automotive/mechanical trade or vocational certification preferred
Required Technical Skills/Knowledge:
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills to include low voltage electrical circuits, hydraulics, air compressors, and pneumatic systems
  • Knowledge of LS service trucks and equipment preferred
Physical Requirements:
Frequently required to lift, move, or transport equipment weighing greater than 20 lbs., occasionally up to 50 lbs without aid. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform work while in a variety of positions, including: standing, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling, laying on back and working overhead. Must be able to grasp, finger, feel, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
