LPN - Central Sterile Job at Nason Medical Center
Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking an LPN for our Central Sterile team. The LPN is responsible for preparing and assembling medical and surgical supplies, instrumentation, and equipment, maintaining the sterile processing areas and receiving and distributing surgical supplies and equipment. He or she will participate in patient and family teaching, provide leadership by interacting appropriately with staff, physicians and other departments to meet patient/family needs and will provide care that is consistent with professional and hospital standards.

Essential Functions:
Promote the mission, vision and values of the organization.
Follow established protocols for cleaning, decontaminating, preparing and packaging, disinfecting or sterilizing, and storing medical and surgical supplies and equipment.
Distribute medical and surgical supplies from sterile processing areas to other areas within the facility or health care organization as needed.
Adhere to standard precautions including the use of personal protective equipment.
Follow safety procedures and manufacturer’s instructions when handling cleaning solutions, supplies and equipment.
Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
Monitor, interpret and document results of physical, chemical and biological indicators for all types of sterilizers used in the sterile processing area.
Prepare and distribute surgical instrument sets according to physician’s preference cards and anticipated needs of the perioperative team.
Inventory, receive, and restock materials used for supporting sterile processing services.
Carry out appropriate sterilization methods, utilizing care and guidelines for use of steam, ethylene oxide and low temp sterilizers.
Follow appropriate infection control techniques throughout various work stations within the department and throughout the hospital.
Collect data and keep sterilization records on file.
Assist with improving the quality of sterile processing services and identifying pertinent evidence to establish benchmarks as directed.
Develop the strategic plan and processes to attain expected outcomes for sterile processing services.
Participate in the performance appraisal process.
Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members.

Job Requirements:
License/Certification:
Licensed Practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
Maintenance of current CPR certification
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) preferred but not required
