JOB SUMMARY:

Provides management and operations support on various matters related to business with third party logistics providers (3PL). Responsible for monitoring and evaluating performance of 3PLs and holding them accountable to achieve performance objectives and targets. Authorizes supplier invoices, determines solutions to carrier/supplier issues, and works on special projects.

1. Responsible for daily/monthly review and monitoring of 3PL’s performance per service agreements related to N-Diesel, N-Gas, F-Series and any other additional models, affecting logistics flow from Japan to dealers/customers. Ensures adherence by 3PL to quality, cost, and delivery (QCDs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) and agreed performance standards. Discusses performance improvement areas and targets with 3PL and provides countermeasures and improvement plans.

2. Reviews and audits supplier invoices. Determines and authorizes proper payment and coordinates with Accounting department.

3. Communicates with carriers/suppliers to resolve issues, delays, etc. and determines solutions and implements changes. Manages the selection and use of carriers and transportation methods for all outbound freight. Negotiates with carriers as required.

4. Works on special projects as needed.

5. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports to: Senior Manager; and/or Manager, Logistics Management
  • No direct reports

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent directly related work experience

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong knowledge regarding Logistics and automotive industry is preferred

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficient PC skills in Windows applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, conversational Japanese language skills preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and high degree of attention to detail
  • Strong management reporting skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Capable of handling enormous amounts of data, using Microsoft Excel and Access

PHYSICAL STANDARDS:

The employee must be able to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer. This is primarily a sedentary position in a controlled office environment which requires only occasional reaching, stooping, and lifting of office files, reports or records, typically weighing 5 lbs. or less.

Position requires travel, approximately 25% of the time including overnight stays.
