About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.


Responsibilities include:


  • Investigate, manage and direct the defense of legal actions and major claims initiated by third parties against the Company
  • Participate in mediations and settlement conferences and negotiate settlements
  • Work with and provide legal advise to multiple business units in Regional Claims. Enggineering and Line department and multiple operating companies
  • Analyze information, legal documents, interview relevant parties and consultants and attend depositions and trials
  • Conduct legal research
  • Represent the Company in legal disputes and transactions with opposing counsel
  • Understand and manage work according to deparmental budget
  • Demonstrate FirstEnergy Values and Behaviors

Qualifications:


  • JD degree from an accredited law school required. Active license in PA and/or required
  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience required. Relevant work experience will include experience investigating and managing claims and negotiating settlements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Work, PowerPoint
  • Strong written and orgal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with peopel at all levels and with varying backgrounds
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality
  • Demonstrated proficiency in legal research
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Strong team player
  • Problem solver, seeking creative solutions
