About the Opportunity
This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.
Responsibilities include:
- Investigate, manage and direct the defense of legal actions and major claims initiated by third parties against the Company
- Participate in mediations and settlement conferences and negotiate settlements
- Work with and provide legal advise to multiple business units in Regional Claims. Enggineering and Line department and multiple operating companies
- Analyze information, legal documents, interview relevant parties and consultants and attend depositions and trials
- Conduct legal research
- Represent the Company in legal disputes and transactions with opposing counsel
- Understand and manage work according to deparmental budget
- Demonstrate FirstEnergy Values and Behaviors
Qualifications:
- JD degree from an accredited law school required. Active license in PA and/or required
- Minimum 5 years relevant work experience required. Relevant work experience will include experience investigating and managing claims and negotiating settlements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Work, PowerPoint
- Strong written and orgal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with peopel at all levels and with varying backgrounds
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality
- Demonstrated proficiency in legal research
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Strong team player
- Problem solver, seeking creative solutions
