Position Description
Will be supporting mission-critical systems hosted on physical and virtual servers in an active clustering environment. Job duties include:

• Monitor system health and configurations daily, in order to ensure system health and functionality of the software development group’s development environments as well as remediate problems/issues in a timely manner
• Manage Gitlab Ci pipeline process (RPM generation, etc.), the system, and its associated package repositories
• Manage Kubernetes (in a single-server setup) and related container technologies such as Dockerfiles and Podman
• Manage on-prem Gitlab repository, Jira, Confluence systems
• Manage RabbitMQ message-broker services
• Manage and/or build RHEL 6, 7 & 8 development systems, physical and virtual
• Work directly with developmental staff while implementing applications or packages
• Provide general Linux user account support to the entire development staff
• Be a customer advocate by consistently meeting, exceeding expectations and incorporating customer service into all aspects of work.

Required Skills
8+ years of relevant experience to include:

• Extensive (6+ years) Red Hat Enterprise Linux (versions 6 - 8) experience
• Extensive (6+ years) knowledge of Gitlab and its CI system and package repositories
• Proficient (4+ years) in configuring and maintaining Apache web servers
• Proficient (4+ years) in configuring and maintaining NGINX web servers
• Proficient (4+ years) in Python scripting
• Intermediate knowledge (3+ years) of RPM build processes
• Ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must be willing to work on a 24X7 on-call basis on a rotating schedule with other system administrators.

Desired

• Current or previous government contract experience
• Knowledge of MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and/or MariaDB
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and related container technologies
• Familiarity with the Ansible Platform and writing playbooks
• Familiarity with Nexus Repository Manager 3
• Red Hat Certified Engineer
• Familiarity with Graylog
• Familiarity with VMWare

Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.

Education
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, related discipline, or equivalent.

The Weather and Climate Infrastructure Services (WCCIS) contract supports the NWS's Central Processing and Information Dissemination portfolios. The contract is managed by the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Central Operations (NCO).
