ASCI has an upcoming opportunity for a full-time, experienced, cleared Linguists in Qatar, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to support Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) across multiple locations within U.S. Air Forces Central Command (USAFCENT) area of operations (AOR). Summary of Duties:

Linguists will work jointly with language screeners and AFOSI providing translation and interpretation support that is relevant to AFOSI's counterintelligence and counterterrorism missions in the USCENTCOM AOR.

  • Provide operational contract linguist support to AFOSI in various locations worldwide
  • Provide general linguistic support for military operations and interpret during interviews, meetings, and conferences
  • Interpret and translate written and spoken communications
  • Transcribe and analyze verbal communications
  • Perform document exploitation; Scan, research and analyze foreign language documents for key information
  • Translate and review foreign language documents; Identify and extract information components meeting military information requirement list criteria; Provide input to reports
  • Linguists are required to work 12-hour shifts and in excess of 60-hour weeks in order to provide continuous contract linguist support that this 24 x 7 operation requires.
  • Linguists must be available for worldwide deployment as the mission dictates
  • Work effectively as part of a Locally Employed Person (LEP) screening team
  • Provide transcription, translation, and interpretation from a variety of sources.
  • Linguist will be prepared/ready for immediate deployment upon hire
  • Provide translations of aural, videotape, and/or other sources from one language into another language, with the meaning and intent of the original source preserved.
  • Write comprehensibly in English and/or supported foreign language and choose the equivalent expression in English that both fully conveys and best matches the meaning intended in the foreign language.
  • Provide written translations of source texts in one language into another language with the meaning and intent of the original text (Translation).
  • Provide Interpretation using a command of a command of English; be able to (1) comprehend the supported foreign language as spoken and written, (2) speak both of the supported language(s) and English, (3) choose an expression in English that fully conveys and best matches the meaning of the source language, (4) have familiarity with the cultural context of both the source language and English, (5) have knowledge of terminology in specialized fields, (6) observe protocols applicable to different settings, and (7) master the modes applicable to these settings

Experience and Skills

  • Active Secret clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Current Passport
  • Must be Category II (CAT II, SECRET), with a minimum Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) level three (3) proficiency in English and the supported language.
  • Must test/re-test/re-validate language skills as requested by the Government (including returning incumbents of the supported contract) at the start of employment and annually thereafter.
  • No criminal record
  • High School Degree
  • At least 22 years of age
  • Must be able to pass a standard physical
  • Physically able to perform job duties
  • Comply with all security requirements
  • Comply with theater clearance, training, immunizations, and medical requirements
  • Free of any communicable diseases
  • Must possess binocular vision correctable to 20/30 (Snellen) and be free of color blindness
  • Capable of hearing ordinary conversation at 15 feet with either ear with or without hearing aid
  • Must be able to work as part of a team

Successful Completion of a Background Screening/ Check/ Investigation will/may be required as a condition of hire.

Be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. An individual is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (i.e., Moderna or Pfizer) or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine (i.e., Johnson & Johnson). As a prospective employee, you will fall under this requirement and proof of vaccination will be needed for on-boarding, should you be selected. Limited exemptions for religious or medical reasons will be considered.
