JOB OBJECTIVE:

The Aquatics Lifeguard will be a safety minded, customer service oriented with previous lifeguarding experience, who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and will help to oversee our state-of-the-art recreational and lap pools, both indoor and out. A typical day for a Lifeguard could include monitoring the pool deck during pool operation hours, checking water quality and maintaining safety environment.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Arrive 15 minutes before and prepared
  • Greets, acknowledges, and interacts with members
  • Supervises swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures and followed
  • Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies
  • Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning and administers first aid
  • Ensures swimmers are aware of potentially dangerous swim areas and activities
  • Act quickly and professionally in emergency situations
  • Keeps the pool area clean and orderly to ensure the safety of the members
  • Instructs and assists classes in fundamentals of swimming as needed
  • Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions
  • Cell phone usage is PROHIBITED while on duty
  • Never turn your back on the pool
  • Never leave swimming pool unattended

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 17+ years old
  • Minimum of six (6) month of related work experience
  • Available to work morning, afternoon, evening, weekend & holiday shifts
  • Swimming proficiency in all types of water conditions
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate, or equivalent
  • American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, or equivalent
  • American Red Cross Standard First Aid, or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of on-site protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies
  • Evaluates conditions for safety and initiates aquatics emergency action plan as required
  • Inspects pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable
  • Assists in cleaning the pool and hot tub
  • Assists in water chemical tests and record them in pool log book
  • Fill out incident reports as needed
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong work ethic
  • Professional manner, discretion, and appearance

SERVICE TO MEMBERS AND COMMUNITY:

  • Must be reliable
  • Must find coverages for unattended (vacation, sick, emergencies, etc.) shifts
  • Must be available to work during the summer
  • Must be willing to attend training and development meeting
  • Must exude professional manner, discretion, and neat appearance
  • Must be energetic, enthusiastic and motivational as well as a strong team player
  • Desire to transform lives through educating members on health and wellness topics via seminars, lectures, handouts, etc.

SALARY/HOURS:

Part-Time

Hourly Rate: $15.00 - $18.00

**Must provide proof of being fully vaccinated**
