Position Summary

Perform advanced, professional, and highly confidential support functions supervised by the Assistant Vice Chancellor, Innovation & Partnerships. Incumbent will be expected to coordinate a diverse range of projects related to intellectual property management and technology licensing including, but not limited to, identifying research with commercial potential; evaluating the relative commercial potential of new innovations created by LSU Health employees; identifying potential licensees; preparing non-confidential, targeted, technical information for marketing purposes; developing and implementing specific marketing strategies for each innovation; and drafting and negotiating agreements necessary for the office’s activity including material transfer, collaboration, inter-institutional and nondisclosure agreements. A high degree of demonstrated initiative, enthusiasm, independent decision-making, strong work ethic, communication skills, and organizational ability will be necessary to complete tasks in a timely manner. Considerable diplomacy and interpersonal skills are necessary characteristics, as the incumbent will regularly interact with investigators, department heads, staff members from other academic institutions and private companies, attorneys, business executives from major drug and device development companies, entrepreneurs from small startups, venture capital executives, and community leaders from the public and private sectors.
