The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), Office of Child Care Health & Safety is seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Licensing Administrator in the Western region.
The Licensing Administrator manages the licensing field office, which is responsible for reducing risks to children in childcare facilities through the promotion and support of improved quality of care and enforcement of state licensing laws, regulations, and evaluation of standards of practices. This position provides supervision and administrative leadership to licensing and technical support staff, identifies and evaluates the trends that impact quality of care, incorporates and enforces department and division directives, documents and guidance, and represents the agency and division during interactions with providers, federal, state, and local agencies, and the community.

Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of developmental, social, emotional, health/medical needs of children served in regulated programs.
- Skill in working effectively within difficult and hostile environments to resolve problems.
- Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, both orally and in writing, and work collaboratively and cooperatively with others.
- Ability to operate basic office computer systems/programs.
- Knowledge of information and evidence collection and analysis techniques.
- Previous experience as a supervisor.
Preferred Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in human services, public administration, business administration, child development, human development, or related practice field is preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Experience preparing for or conducting facility licensing inspections.
- Education or equivalent experience as a program director.
