LPR International is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse to work full-time at the Medical Aid Station. In this position, the successful candidate will be assigned to the Medical Aid Station at Fort Hunter Liggett, CA and will be supervised by the Medical Director, MAMC.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in identifying patient needs and implementing the plan of care.
  • Document care given and patient’s response in the medical record as appropriate.
  • Prepare, position and transfer patients for physical examination.
  • Carry out prescribed Health Care Provider (HCP) orders and document in patient medical records.
  • Possess knowledge and skills consistent with an LPN working in an outpatient setting, such as but not limited to:
  • Possess knowledge and skills consistent with an LPN working in an outpatient setting, such as but not limited to: performing ECGs, nebulizer treatments, starting IVs, and application of dressings and common orthopedic braces, splints and wraps.
  • Recognize and initiate appropriate measure in emergency situations.
  • Assist patient regarding prescribed medications/therapies/diagnostic procedures that must be accomplished.
  • Assess patient knowledge level, implement plan of instructions and record patient demonstrated level of understanding.
  • Submit prepared documents to patient during discharge.
  • Participate and monitor quality of care according to professional standards and established procedures.
  • Respond to telephone inquiries regarding healthcare services and/or follow-up ancillary reports. Assist with related administrative tasks, to include but not limited to using electronic medical records.
  • Utilize systems to document care or health status of patients. Training on DoD medical systems will be provided as required.
  • Recognize the need for emergency measures when indicated, promptly seek the assistance of the Registered Nurse or Health Care Provider (HCP) and assist in resuscitation procedures in cardiac and/or pulmonary arrest.
  • Shall prepare, administer, and appropriately document actions taken specific to commonly prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous intramuscular, and/or intravenous medications as permitted by approved local facility policies and procedures. Observe and document patient’s response to medication administered and report and note change in patient’s condition to the Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner.
  • Perform simple procedures as needed using aseptic and sterile fields as the medical situation warrants.
  • Participate in routine staff activities required for effective and safe operation of the clinic to include but not limited to: training new staff, quality assurance programs, training drills, tracking and restocking of medical supplies, cleaning of medical equipment and ongoing staff education

Qualifications:

  • The Licensed Practical / Vocational Nurse (LPNs/LVNs) providing services under this contract shall perform the same clinical duties as those required of any military or government civil service LPN/ LVN of similar experience assigned to the same unit.
  • Graduate of a school of practical nursing approved by the appropriate State agency; and/or
  • Accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) at the time the program was completed.
  • Exceptions to above education: Healthcare education in the military service or training in the military service which is accepted by the licensing body in the jurisdiction in which the individual is licensed as qualifying for full LPN licensure will be accepted.
  • [Note: The successful candidate will be required to meet Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements in Army Regulation 351-3 (AR 351-3) or as determined by the provider’s State of licensure, whichever is more stringent].
  • A minimum of one-year experience in the past three years. [Experience includes nursing care work in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided a practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques and procedures].

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Possess and maintain a current unrestricted license to practice as an LPN in any of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Certification/Registration.
  • Possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
