Job Description
POSITION: School Library Paraprofessional
JOB GOALS: The School Library Paraprofessional provides support to students and staff in the Library/Media Center during the school day and, under the direction of the Building Principal and Lead Library/Media Teacher, manages the activities of the Library/Media Center.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree; Experience Working with Children; Love of Literature and Specific Knowledge of Children’s and/or Young Adult Literature.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promotes a love of reading and lifelong learning
- Provides classroom management for classes using the library
- Reads books to classes visiting the library and introduces basic library skills/usage
- Assists students and staff in locating library materials
- Circulates library materials to students and staff
- Shelves books
IN ADDITION, AS POSSIBLE:
- Participates in professional development and staff meetings
- Works with parent volunteers
- Processes, catalogs, and circulates books and other print and non-print library materials, including mobile technology devices
- Maintains and updates the collection
- Manages room scheduling
- Collaborates with fundraising efforts to support the Library/Media Center
- Assists PTO in Book Fair
- Performs other Library and Multimedia duties as assigned by the Building Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 183 Days, school year
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
SALARY/BENEFITS: In accordance with AEA Unit D Contract
