Notre Dame Preparatory School, an independent, Catholic school for girls in grades 6-12 in Towson, is seeking a Library Media Specialist to join its dynamic and vital Library Department. The right candidate will enjoy working in a mission-driven, religious educational setting. This ten-month, full-time position will begin in August 2023.

Reporting to the Head Librarian, this Library Media Specialist will have the following responsibilities.

· Co-plan, direct, implement, and evaluate all aspects of library services.

• Teach information literacy skills to staff and students.

• Collaborate with teachers to integrate curriculum content with resource use and information literacy skills into age appropriate, effective instruction.

• Integrate technology and ethical online behavior into instruction.

• Continue to develop a current, relevant collection of media within the annual budget. Purchase, organize, evaluate, and maintain media that meets the informational, educational, research, and recreational needs of the patrons, and adheres to the library selection policy.

• Use the knowledge of the collection to assist students with digital and print selections and promote reading, viewing, and listening.

• Effectively utilize and supervise library staff.

• Read literature, especially young adult, and middle grade genres.

• Provide a welcoming and aesthetically inviting environment for students which is conducive to learning.

• Promote the library and literacy, including celebrating Library Week; informing the school community about new library acquisitions; creating monthly displays highlighting specific materials or showcasing student work.
