The Department of Communication and Language Studies at Bryant University invites applications for a full-time, renewable, lecturer position to begin fall of 2023.
The successful candidate will be required to teach four courses each semester in the Communication program and conduct service for the department (recruitment, department promotion and events, public outreach initiatives, etc.). We are looking for candidates who have experience in teaching the following courses, organizational communication, public speaking, introduction to communication, and intercultural communication. Candidates who have experience in all four will be preferred.

Principal Accountabilities

- Teach four courses for the Department of Communication and Language Studies per semester.
- Provide service to the Department of Communication.
- Attend all recruitment events both on and off campus—some evenings necessary.
- Help facilitate open houses, information sessions, and other recruitment events.
Potential candidates must have the ability to teach courses at the university level. The candidate should, at a minimum, hold a master’s degree in Communication or a related field and have college teaching experience. The candidate must also have experience in successfully teaching several of the following areas; organizational communication, public speaking, introduction to communication, and intercultural communication. Preferably we are looking for someone who has experience in course design and would be interested in the potential to create and instruct new courses. Additionally, we are looking for a poised, results-oriented individual with the enthusiasm who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels and can promote our programs through lively engagement and collaboration ultimately to achieve a positive impact on enrollment. Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching organizational communication, public speaking, introduction to communication, and intercultural communication at the college level (candidates who have evidence of experience in all will be given priority)
- Experience in higher education principles, practices and procedures
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to interact with students, faculty, staff, and the public
- Ability to work independently and well as collaboratively with a team
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
