Work Schedule
Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm. The position requires a flexible schedule, opening/closing the library. Evenings and weekends will be required based on the needs of the college.

Job Description

Eastern Shore Community College is a member of the Virginia Community College System. The College serves the residents of Accomack County and Northampton County as a two-year institution of higher learning. Operating under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Eastern Shore Community College Board, the college is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the two counties and the Eastern Shore Community College Foundation.

The Learning Resources Lead functions as a team member and works independently to support the Coordinator of Strategic Resources and Learner Support by providing the following routine library services: management of daily operations including circulation; purchasing, cataloging and processing, of books and electronic database/resources; interlibrary loan; instructional technology; technology resources for checkout and/or use by students, faculty, and staff; and information resource support for the college. The Learning Resources Lead also manages the testing center by ensuring the center maintains required certifications to proctor third party assessments, such as NCCT and PSI; hiring, training, and supporting test administrators and proctors; creating and maintaining the Testing Center Plan, including testing center policies and procedures; developing, assessing, and reporting Testing Center outcomes; ensuring the Testing Center has the equipment and software to execute its functions; and managing daily operations such as hours of service and customer service.
The Learning Resources Lead also functions in a supporting role to the Coordinator of Strategic Resources and Learner Support by assisting the position in strategic planning, research, and assessment. The Learning Resources Lead provides support to academics and workforce goals and outcomes, particularly through information and technical support for platforms such as the online college catalog, syllabi, and other educational software and processes.
The position requires a flexible schedule to ensure oversight and staffing of the Learning Resources Center and Testing Center.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.



KSA's/Required Qualifications
Outstanding organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to interact patiently and respectfully with students, faculty, staff, and community members of various needs and research skills; ability to teach others how to use information, technology, and software resources; strong oral and written communication skills. Must have keyboarding skills and intermediate level ability with various basic computer applications including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), email, web browser and software. General knowledge of computer hardware, multimedia, digital and other instructional technology equipment. Basic knowledge of Learning Resource Center and Testing Center resources and services. Ability to coordinate with multiple college offices to set and achieve shared goals and outcomes. Regular engagement with professional development and training and the willingness to reconceive and respond to beneficial changes to operations. The ability to work independently, ensure accuracy and attention to details, effective management of time and priorities, follow through on project, and accept new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments. The ability to work a flexible schedule.

Relevant customer service work experience. Intermediate experience with Microsoft Suite, email, and web-browser software. Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to establish and manage ongoing multiple priorities. Ability with self-directed, continual learning and development and to adjust thinking patterns and work habits in response to the evolving needs of the Learning Resource Center, Testing Center, and ESCC. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others to establish and achieve shared goals and outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree. Knowledge of library, testing, and educational software resources and services. Higher education experience, particularly at a community college. Experience managing daily operations and staff, and experience with organizational effectiveness, including planning, assessment, and research. Experience in a library or research setting.
