The Learning and Development Manager will lead efforts to build and scale learning and development programs serving APEI and the supporting Educational Units to fuel a culture of development. This role is responsible for the creation, facilitation, and implementation of training programs that increase group and individual knowledge, effectiveness, and capability to enhance the learning environment and increase performance results. In addition, this position also provides program and project management support for talent management initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Creates, executes and manages the overall Learning and Development strategy and plan in alignment with key priorities for the organization.
  • Conducts organizational needs assessment and identifies learning needs and/or solutions to address skills, knowledge, competency, and performance gaps building strong partnerships with managers across the organization.
  • Deploys a variety of innovative approaches to design, develop and implement high impact learning solutions.
  • Oversees the employee onboarding experience and plays an integral role in the New Employee Orientation (NEO) process, delivery, and evaluation.
  • Ensures all mandatory compliance training is delivered and tracked appropriately.
  • Develop leadership development programs, including building selection criteria and program content
  • Facilitate and oversee leadership development programs and offerings
  • Partner with other Talent & Transformation team members to ensure that all talent and learning offerings are grounded in principles of inclusion and transparency
  • Assist with oversight for enterprise diversity and inclusion efforts as it relates to talent development and retention
  • Oversees the analysis of learner feedback and other data to promote continuous improvement of development solutions, consistently moving development to the next level.
  • Identifies strong external vendors in the marketplace, establishes relationships with them, and deploys, as needed, to drive win-win solutions for training initiatives.
  • Represents the HR Team on University-wide committees focused on training and development needs.
  • Works with HR partners to facilitate consistent usage of assessment tools, training and development activities.
  • Leverages best learning practices, standards, and processes to ensure that value is created through development and deployment of work products.
  • Generates a deep understanding of business demands and facilitates partnerships that enable successful learning outcomes.
  • Provides program and project-based training support for talent management initiatives and to other functional teams within the HR department, including recruiting, benefits, systems, employee relations, and wellness.
  • Prepare training and development budget for department
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationships & Supervision:

This position reports to the VP Talent & Transformation. There are no direct supervision responsibilities, but the position actively works cross functionally across HR and with the EU-HR leaders so will be required to collaborate across teams and influence leaders and peers.

Position Requirement:

  • Proficient at developing and executing training programs for a virtual and in-person audience that accelerate performance
  • Experience in needs assessment and curriculum design for diverse audiences and on a broad range of topics.
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing aspects of evaluation models for determining training efficiency (i.e., Kirkpatrick Model).
  • Demonstrated consultative approach: excellent communication and influencing skills to communicate effectively and credibly, both verbally and in writing, with audiences at all management levels
  • Strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills, including experience with senior leaders
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data from multiple sources in order to identify themes and develop compelling recommendations
  • Demonstrated, end-to-end project/program management experience: conception and initiation, planning, execution, performance/monitoring, and project close
  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively in a fast-paced, complex, multi-tasking virtual environment
  • Ability to apply business knowledge into practical solutions based on business strategy or organizational changes.
  • Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
