Responsibilities

  • Personally responds to direct request or questions from customers in a timely manner
  • Flexible work schedule; availability for evening, weekend, and holidays
  • Responsible for completing daily reception duties during assigned shift
  • Responsible for communicating to the reception team of critical and informative information; updating the communication log at the end of every shift
  • Prepared to collaborate with other departments to assist with various requests and shift coverage
  • Provide weekly and monthly receptionist reports in a timely manner
  • Provide holiday, vacation, and weekend coverage as needed for the department
  • Create and implement staff trainings
  • Create and maintain staff schedules; collaborate with staff for shift coverage
  • Order and maintain office and visit room supplies
  • Monitor and maintain department budgets
  • Recruit and retain department staff; create a friendly work environment that aligns with Provo Canyon Schools vision and goals

Qualifications

High School Diploma; acceptable oral and written communication skills; legible handwriting; ability to maintain information as highly confidential; familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred; skills in dealing courteously with the public and other staff within the school; basic knowledge of human behavior or principles of psychology useful; skills in prioritizing and in managing time; problem-solving skills; use of appropriate social skills, including demonstration and respect for staff and patients; empathy toward patients.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB:
Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand for sustained periods of time. Walk, pull, lift objects from a lower to higher position or horizontally from position to position, finger, grasp; feel sizes, shapes, temperatures and textures; express and exchange ideas orally and potentially loudly, accurately or quickly; perceive the nature of sound with no less than a 40 db loss @ 1000 Hz and 2000 Hz with or without correction.

Light work most of the time, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently; and occasionally medium work, that is exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.

VISUAL ACUITY:
MACHINE OPERATORS (including inspection), INSPECTION, CLOSE ASSEMBLY, CLERICAL, ADMINISTRATIVE: This is a minimum standard for use with those whose work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminal, excessive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, operation of machine (including inspect), using measurement devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

PHYSICAL SURROUNDINGS AND HAZARDS:
The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).

EMOTIONAL OR MENTAL STRESSORS REQUIRED FOR JOB:
Must be able to work with several distractions including light conversation.
Must be able to deal with aggressive, hostile and irrational behavior of students calmly and therapeutically.
Must be able to respond immediately to crisis situations concerning students and/or family members.

LEVEL OF REACHING AND WRITING FOR JOB:
Reading and writing consistent with at least two years of college. Medical terminology helpful, but not required
