Job Summary
This position handles operational accounting for Wilton Re’s Cedar Rapids location, performs advanced and specialized work on separate account and stable value products, insurance dedicated funds, and inforce operations management.
Major Responsibilities
Support General Ledger Accounting (40%)

• Includes monthly, quarterly and annual close activities
• Complete statutory reporting for Wilton Re, Cedar Rapids.
• Perform monthly death benefit/claim analysis
• Compile and prepares information for management review

• Provide various audit and exam support (internal and external) by working with both internal and external sources to research and ensure proper reporting of policy and underlying fund data.
• Conduct third party reinsurance administration (billing, recoverables, ad hoc requests)

Support Variable Life Insurance Operational Accounting and Fund Trading (40%)

• Responsible for the analysis and completion of transactions or processes typically associated with life insurance products invested in a separate account or stable value fund
• Research complex documents; maintaining fund and policy records; interpreting/analyzing data to prepare client and management reports (e.g., for policy owners, regulatory authorities and management).
• Responsible for daily purchase and sales (trading) activities for life insurance products invested in a separate account.
• Research, review and compile department financial information
• Perform special analysis and projects as requested and prepare reports of detailed findings including recommendations for management review.

• Perform banking activity and monthly reconciliations.

In Force Management (20%)

• Perform monthly reconciliation of paid activity from Third Party Administrator (TPA) and general ledger system
• Perform quarterly reconciliation of accrual activity from TPA and general ledger system
• Produce quarterly reports of claim activity and STAT schedules

Required Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of statutory reporting for the life health industry is beneficial.
• Knowledge of life insurance and reinsurance is beneficial.
• Must be extremely organized, detail-oriented, and capable of self-managing and multi-tasking with excellent time management
• Able to react to change productively and handle essential tasks as assigned.
• Strong analytical skills.

Required Education / Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business related field or equivalent education/experience

Location and Travel
Flexible on work location based on one of our corporate offices (Norwalk, CT, Cedar Rapids, IA, Nashville, TN)
Limited travel (less than 10%)
The base salary/hourly rate range for this position in Connecticut is between $80,000 and $120,000. Please note that specific compensation decisions are based upon a variety of job-related factors as permitted by law, including geographic location, credentials, skills, education, training and experience.
