Schedule: Mon - Fri 8:30am-5:00pm Hybrid(2-3 days in-office located in Brockton)

The Role:

  • Collaborate with the IT Department and customer department leaders to provide excellent service and IT tools to help the company reach our corporate and departmental goals
  • Supervise the work of team members in Health Information Management (formerly Medical Records)
  • The Lead Health Information Specialist is responsible for assisting in the overall management of Health Information Management (HIM) – (medical records, coding, and health information processes).
  • The oversight and implementation of health information policies and procedures.


Primary Responsibilities:

1. Protect the security and access controls of medical records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained under HIPPA regulations.

2. Review and respond to disclosure requests to ensure completeness and compliance with regulations.

3. Review and process legal requests to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.

4. Deliver critical results to referring physicians within a timely manner and document receipt.

5. Maintain and update physician database to ensure integrity and reduce disclosures.

6. Approve patient portal requests and assist patients with use of the patient portal.

7. Obtain reports from JV partners in a timely manner and ensure reports get attached to the eRAD RIS.

8. Prepare, process and release medical record requests according to regulatory guidelines and policies.

9. Invoice and successfully collect revenue for all legal requests per company-defined policies.

10. Create and maintain a system to document requests and to document the action taken.

11. Clerical duties associated with the maintaining of medical records and/or company documents.

12. Answer incoming calls and check incoming voicemails.

13. Train new team members.

14. Provides feedback to manager.

15. Other duties relevant to the position as determined by management.


Educational Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent. College level courses desirable.


Experience Requirements:

3-5 years of medical office experience preferred. Attention to detail and excellent communication and computer skills. Working knowledge of state and federal laws/HIPAA regulations pertaining to the Release of Information. Works well independently and is self motivated, but also function well as part of a team. Medically terminology required.


Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods and utilize computer with or without accommodation.


Internal / External Interactions:

This position requires extensive interaction with employees at all organizational levels and with outside sources.
