Lead Associate, Technical Editor (P2) Job at Save the Children

Summary
New Business Development provides leadership in Save the Children’s efforts to achieve greater program results at scale through the successful pursuit of large and strategic US government development funding opportunities. We are currently recruiting for a Lead Associate, Technical Editor to provide support to proposal teams across multiple regions and technical areas to ensure that all proposals are of a high quality and compliant with donor requirements prior to submission. In this role, you will also support the copy editing, design, and formatting of marketing and external communication materials. The primary focus is on large-scale, competitive fundraising opportunities from USAID and other USG sources.
What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Proposal Development/Copy Editing (85%):
- Serve as copy editor and production assistant for assigned opportunities coordinating with the Proposal team to ensure proposal materials are compliant and of high quality (grammar, punctuation, voice/tone, formatting/appearance, readability).
- Ensure readability and clarity of all materials and comply with donor/client and internal style guidelines.
- For oral presentations and co-creation activities, assist in the drafting and review of materials for the team to include presentation scripts, portions of slide decks, and succinct responses to donor questions and feedback.
- Review and analyze solicitation requirements and relevant donor feedback to ensure final proposals are compliant to RFA/P requirements, aligned with Save the Children criteria, and meet or exceed donor requirements.
- Provide support in the development of proposal graphics, utilizing Adobe Illustrator or similar.
- Support the development of select proposal inputs such as past performance references or organizational capacity information, compiling information from program source materials.
- At times, this role will support broader editing needs across International Programs, including narrative reports to donors/clients or other communication materials.
Strengthening Proposal Writing/Editing Capacity and Knowledge Management (15%):
- Contribute to the development and upkeep of resources relating to proposal development, writing, editing, and production.
- Identify and strengthen proposal writing/editing systems and processes based on industry best practices. Work with bid team members to streamline writing, editing and production processes.
- Assist and conduct trainings for country offices on proposal production and copy editing best practices
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, plus at least 3 years of relevant experience
- Proven ability to learn new systems, including SharePoint
- Proven ability to manage a complex and varied workload, while adhering to tight deadlines
- Demonstrated successful analytical, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Proven ability to multi-task and able to make decisions based on established practices and policies as appropriate.
- Experience in the international development sector, either in a communication, technical writing, or business development capacity
- Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal editorial training
- Graphic or visual design experience
- Experience with USAID (highly desirable)
- Previous experience in an organization funded through USG grants/contracts and exposure to the proposal development of USG proposals
- Training and/or facilitation skills and experience
Compensation
Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:
- Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $66,300 – $74,100 base salary
- Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $60,350 – $67,450 base salary
- Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $54,400 – $60,800 base salary
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
