Laundry Manager Job at Winona ORC Industries
JOB SUMMARY
Direct the operations of Winona ORC Laundry’s facilities through the development and administration of accepted policies and procedures applicable to safe, efficient and fiscally responsible operation. Provide effective leadership and instruction to department managers, supervisors and staff. Ensure activities and operations are carried out in compliance with all regulatory agencies including HLAC, CLLM and OSHA, and with Winona ORC’s mission, vision, goals, and policies. Provide necessary safety equipment and training to all workers. Assist in scheduling and driving routes for customers as needed.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- SUPERVISION AND DEVELOPMENT (20%) – Provide necessary training and motivation for workers to meet goals. Promote the development of staff and clients. Define specific job roles and assign duties to best match skills and interests. Ensure compliance with safety standards, proper equipment usage, and production methods. Be knowledgeable of trends and developments in all aspects of healthcare laundry management including infection control and other related business matters.
- JOB SET-UP, PLANNING AND DELIVERY (20%) – Assists with driving, transporting, loading and unloading of materials and supplies as needed for the operation of the department. Ensure that laundry facilities and equipment are regularly inspected and maintained in optimum operating condition. Ensure that all materials, equipment and tools are stored properly.
- SAFETY (20%) –Establish safety procedures for each job task. Safe and lawful operation of vehicle at all times. Lift heavy objects using safety standards to prevent injury and ensures workers know and follow safety procedures to minimize risk of injury. Maintain safety gear and ensure that all workers are wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment. Provide safety training for staff and clients working in Winona ORC Laundry. Inform workers of the availability of the Hepatitis B vaccination and schedule vaccinations in a timely and efficient manner. Ensure safety procedures such as Lock Out Tag Out are followed when working on equipment.
- QUALITY CONTROL (20%) – Ensure quality standards meet customer needs. Ensure jobs utilize quality control procedures to meet standards. Complete daily quality samplings for all jobs. Accountable for compliance with all pertinent HLAC, and CLLM standards and local, state and federal regulations.
- COMMUNICATION (20%) – Communicate with supervisor, staff, clients, customers and others to facilitate efficiency and productivity. Handle all situations in a timely manner. Establish positive relationships with key personnel in customer facilities. Maintain open channels of communication with all customers. Communicate in a manner that protects and ensures client confidentiality. Attend and direct departmental meetings and other meetings as required.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS/STANDARDS
- SUPERVISION AND DEVELOPMENT – Training goals are achieved. Provides opportunities to further develop staff competencies. Schedules in-services on new equipment and procedures. Reviews work skills and progress on a continual basis. Safety standards and production methods are followed. Job assignments take into account skills and interests. Develops a performance improvement plan for the laundry with input from staff, clients and customers. Involves all workers in developing plans to improve customer satisfaction.
- JOB SET-UP, PLANNING AND DELIVERY. Equipment and tools are in working order. All linens are returned to customers and equipment is stored properly. Assists with supporting delivery schedules as needed.
- SAFETY –. Safety procedures have been established. Staff and clients have been trained on safety procedures. Workers wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment at all times during their shifts. Workers are advised on the Hepatitis B vaccination and appointments are coordinated and carried out in a timely manner. Safety information is posted where needed and information is available in alternative formats when necessary.
- QUALITY CONTROL– Quality standards are met. Maintenance records are inspected and show that appropriate maintenance is completed on schedule, minimizing the need for extensive repairs and down time. All jobs utilize quality control procedures and all standards of HLAC, OSHA and CLLM are met. Daily quality samplings are inspected and recorded to ensure high quality standards are met. Leadership modeling is provided to staff. Reporting is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- COMMUNICATION – Effective communication with supervisor, staff, clients, and customers is maintained. Meets weekly with staff and clients for informal information gathering and processing. Meets monthly with laundry staff for educational sessions and to ensure open communication and effective production. Client confidentiality is maintained. All meetings are attended
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
and lead experience.
- Previous experience with working with people with disabilities.
- Computer literate. Proficient in MS Office
- Able to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations
- Required to adhere to the most current Pandemic Action and Response Plan
- Able to pass MN Department of Human Services background study
- Able to pass criminal background check
- CLLM certification
- Hepatitis B Vaccination required – due to some items we launder, having this vaccination is a safety requirement

Must use PPE as required or specific for job site or location as assigned. Examples: gloves, safety eyewear, hearing protection, safety shoes, aprons, smocks.
