• Deliver accurate and timely laboratory results while demonstrating Lubrizol Cultural Beliefs.
• Conduct polymer synthesis experiments according to defined laboratory procedures, while also continuously improving work instructions and procedures as necessary to operate safely and efficiently.
• Understand and perform recipe calculations, identify and resolve incorrect calculations and process the calculations manually if necessary.
• Must be able to identify, troubleshoot, and work closely with scientists and business partners to resolve issues or problems, and appropriately elevate situations to scientists, managers, and/or business partners when necessary.
• Recognize the validity of test data, evaluate data to ensure accuracy before communicating results, notify scientists and managers regarding non-conformances and work to identify root causes of inconsistent test data.
• Document test data in Excel or Lubrizol internal software.
• Articulate and communicate lab results to scientists, managers, and business partners with timely status updates.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on equipment, as defined in the work instructions, and elevate and collaborate with scientists to resolve any concerns.
• Practice hazard recognition in daily work activities. Seek to improve and promote the safety, organization, environmental impact, and efficiency of the work area.
• Recognize priority conflicts and work with scientists and managers to resolve them while running multiple projects at the same time.
• Adopt the flexible workforce mindset, seeking to cross-train to help areas of highest need focusing on overall group needs and business requirements.

• Associate's degree in a technical field.
  • BA/BS in a science-related field, chemistry preferred, considered a plus.
• Minimum one-year lab experience in an industry or academic setting, with extensive polymer synthesis experience.
• Observational and recordkeeping skills to track conditions, procedures, deviations, and results of experiments.
• Analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate not only the results of experiments but also the procedures used to obtain them as well as identify root causes of any problems.
• Working knowledge of statistics.
• Computer skills (Microsoft Office). Knowledge of web-enabled Mainframe applications; Scheduler/Inventory, Measurements, Research Explorer, Information Warehouse, Lab Messenger, and MCR.
• The ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to function in a team environment by working well with others.

• Requires use of appropriate Engineering Controls, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and adherence to Lab Safety practices to ensure you are properly protected.
• Use of a variety of different chemicals to complete required polymer syntheses and testing.
