Basic Function

This position will assist the Quality Control Department with maximizing plant operations to achieve the highest quality and quantity. Conduct advanced physical and chemical testing on refinery wide process streams including intermediate and product samples. Serve as a laboratory liaison to other refinery departments and report to Laboratory Supervisor.

Job Duties

• Proficient with the use of advanced laboratory instruments with emphasis on FID, TCD, and SCD Gas Chromatography, Combustion Fluorescence and Combustion Chemiluminescence methods of analysis.
• Possess LIMS proficiency in sample login, data entry and SQC charting.
• Exercise procedural, safety and quality requirements and strictly follow company policies.
• Safely conduct both physical and chemical testing on fuels, associated blend products and process samples.
• Provide accurate and timely data entry of lab results for both process samples and finished products. Interpret and effectively communicate lab results to lab customers.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Ensure lab reagents consumable are stocked and inventoried.
• Follow-through on commitments made to others.
• Create and maintain a neat, clean and well organized and professional looking work area.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Experience

Preferred: Progressive laboratory experience in a petroleum refinery (5+) years. Previous experience working with octane engines is a plus.

Education Level

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry

Work Conditions

Must be able to work in all weather conditions with all chemical, petrochemical and petroleum produces. Shiftwork including weekends and holidays, overtime as required.
