Dominican Village is a not-for-profit, senior living community and assisted living residence founded in 1992 by the sisters of St. Dominic of Amityville, New York. We are seeking a full time Kitchen Supervisor that is talented, energetic, with a “YES WE CAN” attitude to oversee the day-to-day operation of the kitchen.

Kitchen Supervisor, Healthcare Foodservice

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the food service department to provide excellent service and quality.
  • Communicate with department, facility, and company leadership to achieve goals.
  • Works with the Food Services Director and Executive Chef in ensuring the availability of supplies and decides on substitutions when necessary in adequate time for preparation.
  • In conjunction with the Food Services Director and/or Executive Chef, promotes positive public relations with residents, family members and guests by using appropriate communication techniques to resolve sensitive situations and addressing reported complaints, problems and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Evaluates current food production programs and procedures, recommending and implementing changes as needed by the Food Services management team.
  • Works with cooks to make sure all foods are properly wrapped, labeled and dated and kitchen is properly maintained and clean.
  • Plans and completes all job duties with minimal supervisory direction using independent judgment when necessary.
  • Attends meetings and in-services and performs any related duties as required by the Food Services Director and/or Executive Chef.
  • Manages the preparation of food following the established policies and procedures of the Food Services Department including but not limited to:

a. Ensures that all recipes are being followed.

b. Ensures that all food is cooked and held at the proper temperature and that the temperatures are being logged.

c. Ensures all plates are plated the same and have garnish on them.

d. Ensures that all food is expedited and that all food is being delivered in a timely manner to the residents.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • ServSafe Food Service Manager Certification
  • 3+ years of food operations experience, including 1+ year of management
  • Familiarity with various point of sales (POS)/register systems
  • Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and ordering platforms
