POSITION SUMMARY
Provides shift leadership for the Kids’ Care childcare program and staff. Builds relationships with families and directly leads children ages 0-12 in interactive educational and recreational experiences. Provides assistance to ensure a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith. Creates and implements experience-based, child-development curriculum which educates all participants in the areas of spirit, mind and body.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follows and implements procedures for the day-to-day operations of the Kids Care program, meeting all applicable state regulations and YMCA policies.
- Engages in a program that is developmentally appropriate, meeting the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the participants.
- Provides careful, attentive supervision, and is always alert.
- Promotes a team concept through a positive approach to, communication, and interactions with others. Maintains ongoing communication with supervisor and parents.
- Maintains program site and equipment including toys, furniture, restrooms, floors, and wall-hangings. Ensures the facility is clean, well equipped, and maintained at all times. This includes but is not limited to the Kids’ Care room, Tween Scene, and other spaces used for Kids’ Care and Youth and Family activities.
- Serves the first point of contact for any problems occurring during your shift and decide if coordinator needs to be contacted immediately or not
- Communicates regularly with program parents. Addresses parental concerns and refers parents to coordinator as needed.
- Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
- Leads staff, serving as an example/mentor, to develop a cohesive team by working alongside team members during shifts throughout the week.
- Addresses and resolves staffing issues in the moment including, but not limited to, the enforcement of the uniform and cell phone policies and contacting staff who are late.
- Keep coordinator informed of what is happening in Kids’ Care including staff issues, curriculum issues, children's behavior and parental concerns.
- Collaborates with coordinator to implement training, coaching and feedback to staff as needed.
- Assists with leadership of Youth and Family programs and events.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of Youth & Family program information.
- Creates and innovates new activity and program ideas and ensures Kids’ Care meets the needs of our members, to positively impact member retention and recruitment. Creates and implements curriculum.
- Communicates clearly and effectively with leadership and staff about any changes regarding Kids’ Care.
- Works within a team environment.
- Reports damaged equipment or safety hazards promptly.
- Ensure a strong focus on character development and diversity, equity and inclusion throughout programming
- All other duties as assigned, relative to the welfare of the association.
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of six months working with children, ages 12 and under, in a developmental setting.
- Praesidium trainings required and provided pre-hire.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications with in 90 days
- Ensure a strong focus on character development and diversity, equity and inclusion throughout programming.

Monday-Friday 3:45-8:30 pm
$15.75 per hour
