East Poplarville Veterinary Clinic is seeking a friendly and dedicated individual to act as a full-time Kennel Manager. All of our employees are also cross-trained as Veterinary Assistants and possibly Client Services Representatives. We are a well-established companion animal hospital that has been serving clients in this area for over 30 years. This is a full-time position with some mandatory weekend hours. Candidates must have a very flexible schedule and excellent skills in the following areas: attention to detail, communication, and multi-tasking. We are looking for someone with a great attitude, outgoing personality, who enjoys the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment. Applicants must have experience working in a veterinary hospital.

Your job will entail several important and critical aspects of our hospital; animal care and treatment, customer service, and hospital cleanliness.

-Animal Care & Treatment Responsibilities:

• Walking, feeding, medicating, and maintaining boarders
• Ensure safety for all pets in our care
• Animal restraint
• Admit and discharge patients
• Bathing, nail trims, ear cleaning, anal sac expressions
• Maintain all logs (Boarding notes/medication administration, hospitalized pets)
• Blood draws (esp. jugular)
• Prepping/placing IV catheters w/minimal trauma, SQ/IM/IV injections
• Vaccine preparation
• Setting-up x-ray, taking and developing x-rays
• Drug administration
• Surgical prep, surgical assistance
• Maintain surgery, cleaning & sterilization of instruments, anesthetic machine maintenance
• Operate/monitor fluid pumps
• Prepare laboratory samples
• Count/prepare prescriptions
• Critical care monitoring, recognizing & reporting pain/distress/abnormal patients,
• Maintaining a high standard of patient care
• Assisting others in any way when requested or needed
• Dedication to continuing to improve your education and skills.

-Hospital Responsibilities:

• Vacuuming, mopping, changing garbage, dusting, laundry
• Stocking and cleaning exam rooms
• Cleaning/Disinfecting kennels, clean pet dishes, litter pans
• Cleaning up vomit/stool/urine/spills
• Equipment maintenance, replenishing supplies, inventory management
• Keep odors to a minimum
• Overall hospital maintenance (indoors and outdoors).

-Customer Service Responsibilities:

• Answering phones, taking and passing messages to the appropriate staff member, answering questions
• Giving treatment demonstrations (pilling, SQ fluids, insulin admin, etc)
• Client education, recognizing/preventing client confusion
• Invoicing/checking out clients & taking payments (cash, credit card, checks)
• Obtaining patient history, appropriate record keeping, prepping/pulling charts
• Preparing exam rooms for client and doctor
• Calling owners with results, call owners to check on patients, call owners with updates
• Assist clients with pets, provide information about all retail products
• Maintain compassion and professionalism during high-stress situations

Pay: $8.00 - $11.00 per hour
