About The Course

This course is for students interested in moving beyond climate science discussions, who want to explore the impact of climate change on the natural world around us and tae action. Our work will focus on the biological impacts of climate change and how they are causing a climate shuffle among ecological communities. Students will engage in citizen science to explore research techniques and reflect upon the power of observation in documenting change. In parallel with an exploration of the biology of climate change we will explore how science can and must inform climate change activism. Students will be introduced to local, national, and global solutions to the climate crisis and various forms of climate change activism- from tackling a household’s carbon footprint to organizing one’s community and advocating for climate legislation and policies. The course will culminate in a project to communicate climate science to inspire action.
