Job Description for Principalship

BACKGROUND

Pinecrest Academy of Nevada Cadence Campus is a K-12 in-person instruction campus. Additionally, the campus houses Pinecrest Academy Virtual, a 6-12 virtual/hybrid instructional offering. This position will oversee both campuses.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Under general direction, serve as the chief administrative officer and instructional leader of Pinecrest Academy of Nevada, Cadence and Virtual Campus. Perform related work as required.

EXEMPLARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

The school principal shall:

  • Pursue the vision and execute the mission of Pinecrest Academy of Nevada.
  • Provide leadership and direction to all instructional and non-instructional staff.
  • Supervise instructional practices in the school, including observations, coaching, and mentoring directly or through other staff and/or professional development programs.
  • Hire, evaluate, and terminate staff positions.
  • Administer Pinecrest Academy scheduling, enrollment, and curriculum.
  • Provide formal and informal reports to the Pinecrest Governing Board.
  • Prepare requested materials for Pinecrest Academy Board meetings, including student academic achievement data based on comparative and longitudinal measures.
  • Implement and follow policies and procedures as outlined in the Pinecrest Academy Handbooks.
  • Provide oversight of HR trainings and matters of concern.
  • Provide a safe environment for learning.
  • Support high-liability IEPs/504s.
  • Provide oversight of state compliance with certifications.
  • Create & submit yearly school improvement plans.
  • Serve as a liaison with Academica, System Principals, The State Public Charter School Authority, and the Department of Education.
  • Serve as a liaison with the parent community to maintain community engagement.
  • Support high needs behavior, suspension, and expulsion cases and serve on the system expulsion committee.
  • Maintain contracts and partnerships for Dual Enrollment and Career and Technical programs and colleges.
  • Ensure compliance with state laws and educational regulations.
  • Ensure proper budgeting, accounting, auditing, and financial planning including approvals over all expenditures within the campus-wide budget.
  • Create and continue to develop open communication with all parents of Pinecrest Academy Cadence & Virtual -enrolled and interested families.
  • Oversee compliance with fire instructions, OSHA, and other Health Inspections.
  • Serve as a point of contact for media and press releases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Pinecrest Academy Governing Board.

Knowledge of: Modern instructional techniques and curricular concepts: vertical structure of the course of study of the Pinecrest Academy Instructional Models and understand the importance of articulation in these areas; the charter’s philosophy of the role of the K-12 school; principles and practices of school administration, including school finances, teaching methods and techniques, evaluations, program development, applicable federal, state charter, and local laws, regulations, ordinances and policies; an understanding of adolescents and the social and individual challenges inherent at that age; human resources development; school law; conflict resolution; public relations; principles of effective management, staff supervision and administration. High School experience is preferred.

Skilled at: Planning, organizing, assigning and coordinating the activities of a professional and support staff; presenting ideas effectively, verbally and in writing; dealing constructively with conflict and developing consensus; selecting, supervising and evaluating subordinates; dealing effectively with people within the community; team building; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; working with people, staff supervision and administration.

Licenses/Certificates: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Nevada driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to Academica NV; Nevada School Administrator Endorsement/License must be obtained prior to placement as an administrator. Proper endorsement is necessary for commencement of a contract.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS

Salary:

The range in salary is dependent upon the selected candidate’s level of leadership experience, years of educational service, and highest level of college degree earned prior to January 1, 2023. Payroll structures provide employees with semi-monthly paychecks spread out over 24 pay periods annually. Additional compensation will be provided for oversight of Pinecrest Academy Virtual in conjunction with Pinecrest Academy Cadence Campus.

Principal Start Date: The position will work alongside the incumbent principal beginning on February 1, 2023 through the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year. The full scope of responsibilities will commence on July 1, 2023.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
