Junior Estimator Job at Weldon Contractors
GENERAL SUMMARY
Prepare complete estimates and bids for assigned projects of complexity either directly or through multi-departmental teams, to include determination of applicable project plans and specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Calculate various statistical data-quantity take-offs, material price list, labor cost per man-hour, equipment, etc.;
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate;
- Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers through direct contact brochures, price list, etc.;
- Support other department personnel as required. May include preparing estimates in other disciplines;
- May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials;
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor s direction;
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control;
- Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems essential;
- Full operating capabilities of the Quick Pen estimating system;
- Knowledge of mechanical, plumbing and HVAC strongly encouraged
