JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Job Setter
DEPARTMENT(S): Press/Assembly
SUPERVISOR(S): Press Coordinator / Assembly Coordinator
PURPOSE OF JOB: To understand the needs of the customers to set up machines to prepare them for production and support the long-term success of Industry Products Co. Conform to customer requirements by performing defect-free work and continuously improving our processes and the effectiveness of our quality management system.
CUSTOMERS DIRECTLY SERVED:
INTERNAL: Operators, Q.A., Assembly, Shipping,
Silkscreen, Tool Room, Material Prep
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
- Ability to learn press operation theory and press set-up process on all press equipment
- Basic reading
- Basic math skills and their application in job processes
- Good organizational skills
- Fit into team and continuous improvement environment
- Ability to learn to accurately use calipers, gauges, and other Q.A. inspection devices
- Ability to maneuver 200 pounds
- Ability to prioritize job tasks
- Ability to learn to read blueprints
- Ability to problem solve
- Mechanical ability
- Ability to work with and direct people
- Self-motivated
- Ability to work in pressure situations
- Physical flexibility(Bending, twisting, stooping,etc.)
DESIRED:
- Past experience with press operation
- Past experience in press set-up
- Ability to lift 50-100 pounds
- Past experience with various materials used in the presses
- Experience reading blueprints
- Past experience as group leader
- Understanding of and experience with steel rule dies, semi-perm and perm tools
- Past experience in Q.A.
- Past experience in production planning
- Past experience in trouble-shooting machine problems
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXAMPLES:
1. Set up machines to prepare them for production
A. Tear down set-up from last production run
B. Clean machine and inspect and return dies
C. Obtain new dies/plates
D. Mount dies/plates and adjust cutting depth
E. Obtain materials to be processed
F. Set tracks and progression
G. Obtain boxes, bags, etc. for materials processed
H. perform first part inspection of parts
I. Complete paperwork
J. Tow Motor Operator License
K. Operate equipment/machinery when needed
2. Complete routine maintenance and trouble shooting on machines and jobs as needed
3. Report unusual equipment performance or unsafe conditions to
Coordinator or Management
4. Assist Coordinators in developing and implementing daily production plan
5. Responsibility of all IPC employees
A. Be a team player and assist co-workers as needed
B. Participate in employee involvement programs
C. Obey safety procedures and work in a safe manner
D. Maintain a clean work area
E. Support and participate in the lean manufacturing process

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
