Job Description
The IT Specialist is solely responsible for the configuration, maintenance, deployment, repair, and end-user support of all systems related to Virginia Tire & Auto’s Information infrastructure. This individual will also serve as a primary POC for all systems vendors within the VTA infrastructure. Transportation is needed to conduct our on-site visits as well. Must be capable of lifting/carrying up to seventy-five pounds independently. CompTIA or other industry certifications are a plus, but not required.
Responsibilities
Overall duties include, but are not limited to:
- Administrative Tasks
- Onboarding/offboarding tasks
- Microsoft systems (O365, Windows, Networking, Active Directory, SQL, Virtual servers)
- Security/camera and access control systems
- Maintaining backups, document management systems, phone systems, etc.
- End-User Support
- Providing, testing, resetting credentials as needed
- Help desk case handling.
- Report distribution
- Initial POC for all systems support issues
- Routing non-systems issues and working with the related department(s) toward resolution.
- Site visits are related to on-site service and support.
- Communicating with both local and remote users in person, on the phone or by email
- Hardware/Software
- Maintain location servers (Periodic Windows updates, software updates, etc.)
- Configure, maintain, and deploy company IT equipment (Desktops, laptops, printers, etc.)
- Asset management/documentation
- Installation, configuration, updates, and centralized management
- Troubleshooting and resolution of systems issues
- Point of sale support.
- Training
- End-user training for information/technology systems
- Training peers as it relates to systems support tasks.
- How-to, Instructional documentation/videos, etc. (End-user and S.O.P documentation)
Participate in rotational after hours/on-call support for retail stores, supporting all technology within the store as required. Responsible for resolution and all required follow-up activities.
Education & Skills
Core Skills include Advanced computing skills, knowledge of networking technologies, ability to create training materials, ability to multitask and remain flexible in a challenging environment.
Required
- Associate or Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent industry experience required
- 1-2 years of hands-on experience with troubleshooting and restoring service to point of sale systems hardware, software, and applications
- 1-2 years troubleshooting and resolving 1st and 2nd Tier desktop, laptop, and IoT computer systems
- 1-2 years of network and system administration experience
- Some knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
