The Berg Group (TBG) is looking for an IT Manager to join our team! This role will be responsible for driving the overall Infrastructure Technology (IT): systems, infrastructure, and team; In continuous improvement and maximizing production infrastructure and systems uptime. In addition, this role will also be responsible for documentation of system processes, system security, and overall system architecture. Including but not limited to IT team, network, securities, EULA, End user devices, IT inventory, contracts, and vendor/partnership negotiations.

As part of the Business Continuity Team, The IT Manager works with TBG’s Construction Technology (CT) Team, to build, beta test, and implement new innovative tools to deliver continuous improvement & operational excellence.

This position will be joining the Berg Team, a respected leader in the commercial drywall industry for over 50 years. We are a growing company with offices in Chaska, MN, West Sacramento, CA, Carlsbad, CA, Phoenix, AZ, Bozeman, MT, Naples, FL, and growing opportunities in Austin, TX.


Essential Functions

Primary Responsibilities/Duties

  • Learn, develop, and continuously improve network troubleshooting strategies to help reduce downtime and decrease maintenance costs.
  • Administer, support, and make recommendations on the network infrastructure.
  • Manage IT Service Desk and any related consultants.
  • Staying up to date with new network technology and reporting this information to the executive team each quarter
  • Working closely with other department managers to assess the growth needs and maintenance of the company’s network
  • Maintain and develop IT’s security and disaster recovery data procedures.
  • Monitor servers, networks, and computer systems for irregularities and performance issues. Implement upgrades when needed.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Business Continuity and CT Team to create an effective internal operating system.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures regarding IT Operations.
  • Optimization and automation of The Berg Group processes and technology stack.
  • Be the subject matter expert and understand the roles and responsibilities of an IT Department.
  • Manage contracts with vendors (e.g., development platforms, telecommunication companies, password managers) and software licenses.
  • Resolve tickets escalated from the IT Helpdesk and contact employees who need technical assistance via phone or email.
  • Maintain computer systems and act as support if any system goes down.
  • Facilitate the install, configuration, and upgrading PC software.
  • Maintain technical documentation and service catalog on installation of software, configuration of hardware and problem troubleshooting.
  • Create and manage IT’s department budget with the Director of Business Continuity.

  • Provide time for regular and effective 1 on 1 meetings with all direct reports.
  • Coach, mentor, and collaborate with direct reports regularly.
  • Establishes and achieves specific, measurable, and obtainable objectives that support Berg's overall growth and profitability objectives while creating client, employee, and company success.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in IT field & 3 years of contiguous IT experience
  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving and analytical thinking, exceptional troubleshooting, research, negotiation skills and logic skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and accurately with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge with Windows 10, Windows Server 2016 & 2019.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Hyper-V, Veeam Backups, Azure, Office 365, iOS, macOS.
  • Possess excellent problem solving and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently and provide leadership for project coordination.
  • Acts with a sense of urgency to complete tasks in a timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors or technical degree in information systems related field and/or 5+years equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years network or systems administration of a small – medium sized network of Windows servers, desktop systems, routers, switches, firewalls, printers.
  • Microsoft certifications and other professional network qualifications, e.g., CompTIA, Network+, Security+, VMWare, etc. are valued and a plus, but not required.
  • Bilingual.
