Overview:
The Information Technology department maintains hardware, software, and equipment for over 200 employees, a trucking fleet, and 100 fueling locations and offices. This hands-on technical/management role will plan, coordinate, direct, and design IT-related activities, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily activities. The director’s success will rely heavily on their ability to build successful stakeholder relationships with business leaders by developing a clear understanding of business needs, acting as a trusted advisor, and ensuring fast, reliable, cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs. This exciting opportunity will play a pivotal role supporting the company’s continued rapid growth by assessing and evolving the IT function modernizing IT systems, processes, and tools to build scale.
Responsibilities:
- Provide highly reliable, secure, and performant infrastructure services by planning, directing, and supervising the daily operations of IT.
- Oversee IT internal staff of 5 including setting priorities, employee development, and performance management.
- Create and execute an ambitious IT strategy aligned to company objectives and ensure ongoing alignment with the executive leadership team.
- Develop a deep understanding of the complex needs of the business and work with department leaders to maintain and expand technical solutions. Develop, recommend, and implement solutions that improve efficiency and usability. Understand user needs and develop and deliver training.
- Act as the IT project manager to facilitate completion of initiatives timely and on budget.
- Monitor the timely completion of help-desk tickets by IT staff. Respond to urgent off-hour support tickets.
- Establish standards and procedures to ensure consistency within the technical team. This includes creating and maintaining technical documentation on internal infrastructure.
- Strategically determine when to use managed services providers and monitor performance.
- Drive the evaluation, selection, implementation, and maintenance of information systems, ensuring appropriate investment in strategic and operational systems.
- Develop and maintain emergency plans to address equipment, power, or security failure to ensure preservation of operations, technology, and data.
- Plan, develop, and manage departmental budget and capital spend.
- Lead the integration of IT systems and hardware for acquisitions.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in computer science or computer engineering and eight (8) or more years of experience in information technology and five (5) or more years of leadership or managerial experience strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. MBA with technology-related emphasis a plus.
- Independent self-starter with a track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and/or guidance.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply IT principles and practices to strategically align tasks and resources with organizational goals and objectives.
- Knowledge or the principles and practices of project planning, development and evaluation as well as the ability to meet project deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical users.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a support team with a strong bias towards creating a positive customer experience.
- Progressive leadership experience in a medium or large organization preferred.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and exercises superior judgment to make decisions.
- Understands best practices for large data and experienced in data-driven strategic analysis and customer insight.
