The Work You Will Do:

This advertisement is for the Director of Investigations in the agency’s Office of Inspector General. This role is important in ensuring accountability and integrity within the agency and in determining whether any alleged wrongdoing constitutes a violation of applicable law, rule, or policy. The person in this position is responsible for performing and directing administrative investigations and reviews while supervising two investigators; interpreting applicable laws, rules, and regulations; coordinating with law enforcement officials on cases involving criminal activity; and writing or reviewing reports of investigation.

Pay:

$65,000 to $70,000 Annually


Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing the investigative and management review process in the Office of the Inspector General with specific duties that may include performing investigations, management reviews and audits in accordance with governmental auditing standards. The duties may also include providing technical assistance for entities within and outside of the agency and developing strategies to combat fraud and abuse in agency or program operations. * This is not a sworn law enforcement position.
  • Plans, directs, and assists employees in performing work according to the work plan, office policies and procedures, and government auditing and investigative standards where applicable.
  • Directs other investigators and reviews and assigns cases as appropriate.
  • Coordinates all investigative and management review activities conducted within the office.
  • Interprets laws, rules and regulations that are applicable to the work of the Office of the Inspector General.
  • Coordinates with other law enforcement officials on cases involving criminal activities at the state, local and federal levels. Establish relationships with the law enforcement community and maximize agency resources through the sharing of information.
  • Perform duties generated from the Office of Program, Policy, Analysis and Governmental Accountability (OPPAGA), the auditor General and other entities.
  • Writes and reviews reports and other official documents.
  • Directs and participates in the compilation and review of various reports prepared by staff. Performs technical, analytical, and procedural reviews of working papers and supporting documentation to reach appropriate report conclusions, findings and recommendations and ensure that they are properly supported.
  • Performs administrative and other related duties as assigned.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Advanced knowledge of investigative techniques.
    Working knowledge of whistle-blower investigations.
    Ability to write clear, concise reports of investigative findings.
    *Some travel required.


Qualifications:
As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.



Preferred
Supervisory experience is preferred.
