Performs the administrative functions and responsibilities for the IEP and EARRS at J. Wilkins Opportunity School, the Education Program at Griffith Centers. Could include the supervision of all School staff, under the direction of the Special Education Director/Director of Education. Performs other administrative duties needed in the operations of the school. Will ensure compliance to established policies, procedures and/or regulations; and addressing other duties and processes.
Responsibilities include:
Responsibilities include:
- Facilitate IEP team meetings, including manifestation determination review meetings, eligibility meetings, and evaluation meetings, transfer meetings.
- Provide assistance to special educators in developing IEP's and consult with them regarding their implementation of appropriate accommodations. Managing the school’s special education programs and services.
- 1. Assist in the identification and programming for students with disabilities, including the preparation of the IEP.
- Plan instruction and curriculum consistent with individual IEP testing scores and accommodations.

Provide lessons based on the Common Core and Colorado state standards.

Provide ongoing consultation services to staff members.

Plan effective use of instructional time.

Apply principles of teaching/learning to enhance student achievement, including experiential methods.

Utilize teaching methods that are appropriate for meeting the goals and objectives outlined in the IEP.

PHYSICAL RQUIREMENTS:
PHYSICAL RQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently stands, walks, kneels, reaches while working with patients/residents/students.
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and physical restraint of patients.
- Ability to perform CPR and First Aid. Ability to drive a vehicle if necessary.
- Ability to type and use a computer terminal.
- Requires frequently speaking on the telephone.
SKILLS:
Understanding of both federal and state education regulations and laws, in both special education and regular education. Working knowledge of all educational regulatory agency standards and requirements. Requires leadership, creativity, high energy, organizational, supervisory, administrative abilities and problem-solving skills. Also requires verbal/written, interpersonal and customer service skills. Working knowledge of software programs such as Windows, Word, Excel, etc. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Working knowledge of Council on Accreditation (COA) standards, Cognia standards, CDE standards, and DHS rules and regulations. Requires ability to exercise independent judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- Masters Degree in Special Education preferred,
- CDE certification in Special Education preferred. CDE certification in education required.
- Five (5) years teaching emotionally disturbed children and three (3) years administrative/supervisory experience.
- Prefer individual who has worked in a facility school setting.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
- Colorado Department of Education License.
- CPR and first aid certification as requested.
Pay Rate: 55,000-60,000 Annually
