SUMMARY:
Assist in the electrical design, installation and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems, solve problems and implement process improvements by verifying electrical distribution, mechanical function, and motion capabilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Function as the E& I Manager backup
- Assists in developing designs for power distribution and process control systems, including transformers, switch boards, cabinets, control devices, instrumentation, PLCs and process control software
- Evaluates existing plant systems, and makes recommendations to improve reliability of these systems
- Provides assistance to production, contractor, and maintenance personnel on maintenance repairs reliability initiatives and system calibrations
- Provides troubleshooting assistance for plant process control systems
- Locates and selects potential vendors and Obtains quotes for equipment and services
- Creates and manages preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize unscheduled down time
- Assists in training machine operators in plant process control systems
- Complies with all safety, environmental, and quality requirements established by external and internal regulations
- Reads and interprets schematics, specifications for electrical equipment, and technical reports.
- As needed Supervises equipment manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and start-up.
- Assists in the design of control systems, general user interface, tag schemes, automation, alarm schemes, logic, logging and data collection, including programming of PLC’s and HMI’s.
- Identifies and monitors project milestones.
- And other duties as assigned or required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Strong in instrumentation and controls experience
- Bachelor or MS of Electrical Engineering (Mechanical, Electromechanical or Chemical Engineering) preferred
- Allen Bradley PLC background
- Project management skills desirable
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- 3-5 years of electrical engineering or electrically related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with servo motors.
- Proficiency with electrical design, preferably utilizing SolidWorks Electrical.
- Experience with system commissioning/start-up
- Preferred experience with industrial power systems including transformers, power controllers, and distribution equipment.
- In-depth understanding of PLC hardware and software platforms. HMI programming experience a plus.
- Good knowledge of electrical theories, design principles and practices, and design evaluation techniques.
