Provide education and supervision to Occupational Therapy students including the development, implementation evaluation and assessment of OTD curriculum as well as engagement in research and service activities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Strong interest in and prior exposure to conducting research beyond graduate thesis/dissertation. Established line of inquiry preferred.

2. Ability to organize and present material in lecture and laboratory.

3. Ability to communicate effectively in large and small groups as well as one-on-one.

4. Ability to accurately examine the knowledge and clinical skills attained by the students.

5. Excellent communication skills

6. High organizational skills & ability to multi-task

Required Qualifications

1. Education: Graduation from an accredited occupational therapy program. Must have doctoral degree from a United States Department of Education recognized accredited program.

3. Experience: One years clinical experience preferred. Preferred experience tutoring/lab assistant.

4. Licensure: Oregon State OT license or eligible for State licensure.

5. Preferences: Preference will be given to individuals with knowledge of occupational therapy practice areas needed..

1. Teaching

a. Course development, implementation, student assessment, and course evaluation.
b. Contemporary knowledge & practice such as: utilization of technology and current topics/trends.
c. Maintain and promote high standards of intellectual integrity.
d. Maintain updated and current syllabus
e. Maintain records of student grades and progress.
f. Prepare examinations that assess the student’s accomplishment of lecture and laboratory objectives.
g. Supervise, advise, and mentor students.
h. Participate in admissions and recruitment efforts..
i. Provide tutorial classes for students who require remediation.

2. Communication

a. Be open to interaction with students in class and available through office hours at least two (2) hours per week when students are not scheduled to be in class. Be willing to schedule further time as needed by the student. Be a mentor to the students.

b. Exhibit teamwork and cooperation within the department and other departments within the University.

c. Interact appropriately within the department and University with all levels of administration and support staff, from President to Security Guard.

d. Be timely and accurate in communications.

a. Conduct research, publishing papers, and attending conferences
b. Participate in grant proposals, scholarly publications or oral/poster presentations.
c. Mentor students in research/capstone/thesis projects.

b. Become involved in elected, appointed and/or volunteer with the American Occupational Therapy Association, Occupational Therapy Association of Oregon or other professional activities.

5. Clinical Practice of Occupational Therapy/Professional Development

a. Maintain skill levels and acknowledge by clinical practice or continuing education.

6. Align to ACOTE expectations and maintain compliance with ACOTE standards, policies and
procedures.

7. Special projects as assigned from year to year.

8. May be required to be a committee chair.

9. May guest lecture for other programs in the University.

10. May be required to attend university functions outside normal working hours.

11. Assist other faculty with practical examinations.

12. Provide tutorial classes for students who require remediation.
