• Muse Academy of Music is a leading community music school in north San Diego County offering private music lessons to students ages 4 and up. Our studio is located in Rancho Bernardo just off the I-15 freeway at Rancho Bernardo Road.

We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic piano teacher to join our team. The candidate will be starting with an existing studio of up to 35-40 students, depending on availability and days assigned. The hours are part time up to 20 hours per week.

Start date will be between July 15th and August 1st, 2023. Studio Schedule is Wednesdays through Fridays 2pm-9pm and Saturdays 9am-3pm.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach private lessons as scheduled to ages 4 and up.
• Provide continuous positive feedback on student progress in an age-appropriate way
• Make informed decisions on selecting teaching materials and pacing of instruction based on individual student needs
• Continuously adapt approach while teaching. Quickly respond and make adjustments to teaching approach according to careful observation of student's current needs.
• Track student assignments and progress using our School Portal
• Ongoing communication with parents
• Attend and prepare students for recitals twice per year

Basic Qualifications

• Experience teaching music to children ages 4 and up
• Ability to interact in a fun and engaging way with children as young as age 4
• Adaptable, non-rigid teaching approach
• Ability to quickly and accurately perceive and respond to students individual needs as you are teaching.
• Great communication skills with parents
• Excellent organization and time management: must be able to manage and stay on time while teaching a large studio of up to 40 students per week with back-to-back individual lessons.
• Punctuality and reliability are are crucial.
• Commit to teaching at least 2 days per week (Wed through Sat)
• Must be able to teach year-round, including summer.
• Must have reliable transportation method and be willing to commute to the Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego.
• Ability to occasionally teach online using Zoom as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Music
• Familiarity with Piano Adventures method books
• Ability to join MTAC (School will pay membership fee while employed)
• Ability to teach multiple instruments a plus
• Experience teaching adults as well as children
