  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

  • Continued employment in this position is contingent upon satisfactory completion of the mandatory training specifically identified for the position.
  • Excepted Civil Service Technicians are required to maintain a AFSC and military grade that is determined by the NGB to be compatible with the assigned position. Loss of military membership will result in immediate loss of your full-time position.
  • In order to achieve compatibility prior to effective date of personnel action, individual selected must be eligible for military assignment to a paragraph and line number in one of the following SDI 8I000.
  • In order to qualify for above mentioned AFSC(s) you must comply with mandatory entry requirements contained in Air Force Enlisted Classification Directory (AFECD) or Officer Classification Directory (AFOCD), as applicable.
  • If selected for this position who is not qualified in one of the mentioned AFSC, MUST submit to HRO, before date of appointment, the correct military paperwork/application to attend the technical training school required to be AFSC Qualified
  • If selectee fails to process the school application and does not successfully graduate from the school, he/she will be terminated from the technician program for failure to meet the compatibility standards and receive a 30 days notice of separation.
  • Acceptance of any military technician position may cause the termination of entitlements and eligibility for all military bonuses and student loan repayments. For further information you must contact the appropriate military Education Office.
  • Prior to appointment, an applicant?s military medical record must indicate a current completed medical physical and cleared drug test.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
This position require military membership in the Puerto Rico Air National Guard (PRANG). If the MBR certification is not submitted, your application will not be screened.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION:
Area 1 = All permanent Enlisted members employees (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Air National Guard.
Area 2 = All indefinite Enlisted members employees (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Air National Guard.
Area 5 = Enlisted members of the Puerto Rico Air National Guard.
Area 6 = Applicants who meet all requirements to become member of the Puerto Rico Air National Guard. (If the MBR certification is not submitted, your application will not be screened.)

First round consideration will be given to Area 1 Candidates. (All other Areas will be screened only in the event that there are no qualified or recommended Candidates)

To prevent a grade inversion, military rank allowed for this position will be determined at the final evaluation of the vacancy announcement considering the military rank of the supervisor.

Duties:
As a INSPECTIONS SPECIALIST (D2512P01), GS-1801-9, you will serve as an Air Force Inspection System (AFIS) monitor for the IG Inspections managing the Self-Assessment program, providing feedback to FAMs on checklist quality, and compiling information from Management Internal Control Toolset (MICT) or most current automated systems, to ensure inspectors have all required information for directing the Commander's inspection program (CCIP).

INDEFINITE:
This position is advertised against a valid man-year of an employee currently on an Active Duty tour. If the employee does not exercise restoration rights, personnel action may become permanent without further competition, upon recommendation of immediate supervisor, or may be terminated at any time by management decision.

An applicant selected for an indefinite appointment will occupy a full-time position without a specific time limitation. A technician in this type of appointment does not work towards permanent tenure and can be terminated at any time with a 30-day notice. The permanent status of a current permanent employee will not change in the event of a selection for a position that is being announced as indefinite. If a current permanent employee is selected, the position will be filled as a Temporary Promotion or a Change to Lower Grade. Employee serving under a temporary promotion may not retain a grade or rate of basic pay held during the temporary promotion. If a new hire is selected, the position will be filled as an Indefinite Appointment.

Physical demands:
The work is mainly sedentary and may require some travel, walking, bending, and carrying lightweight items, such as briefcases, notebooks, and work papers.

Work environment:
The work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess at least TELVE (12) months of specialized experiences working within the definitions of laws, regulations, and policies; working the military inspection programs and basic understanding of military missions, service structures, capabilities, and organizational functions; n applying analytical and evaluative techniques to analyze the self-assessment program plans; developing training materials and instructing others in the basic inspector general program elements, activities and procedures; developing training materials and instructing others in the basic inspector general program elements, activities and procedures; working knowledge of inspector general investigations, understands how to conduct interviews, fact finding projects, and/or complete data analysis; applying, a wide range of complex inspection, investigation, enforcement, and/or compliance principles, concepts, and practices; criminal and case precedents; administrative and legal procedures; and statistical and financial analyses; coordinate and ensure criminal cases are supported by evidence; develop supportable cases for presentation and/or prosecution; coordinate investigative activities with Federal, State, and local law enforcement officials; conduct sophisticated surveillance; collect and confirm information from a variety of sources and methods, such as court records, databases, periodicals, financial reports, the Internet; and prescribe corrective action or remediation in difficult and complex work assignments.

Note: IAW AF guidance, incumbent must attend the USAF Basic Inspectors Course (BIC) for UEI or CCIP (as appropriate) and the Inspector General training Course (IGTC) within 180 days of assignment to an IG position; and Wing IG inspectors of nuclear-capable units will complete the USAF Nuclear Inspectors Course within 180 days of assignment to an IG team. Successful completion of other courses will be accomplished IAW applicable DoD, AF and National Guard Bureau regulations.

Education

Education achievements are allowed as substitutions for specialized experiences in the six program positions of Series GS-1801, General Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement, and Compliance. Copy of student transcripts or training certificates must be included in order to receive credit for education. Unofficial transcripts from internet or with alterations will not be considered. To receive credit for education the information must be included in the education section of the Resume.
